Many military members and families moved into Mayfields during this time and many streets in the area were renamed after them such as Victory Boulevard (known today as Wilson Boulevard) and Purple Heart Road (now University Avenue). After the war ended, many people left Mayfields due to changes in economic conditions within Cleveland; however, some stayed until their deaths such as Mrs. Elizabeth Woolridge Clark (1901-1990), an important figure within United Methodist Church in Cleveland which is still active today.
