The Gun Choke Company was founded in 1892 by Andrew Higgins and his brother John. The company supplied revolvers to the local police and military. In 1916, Andrew Higgins died suddenly at age 54 after a long career as an arms manufacturer. His son John continued the business until his death in 1951.

Massillon is a town in the US state of Ohio. The population was 28,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Massillon–Worthington, OH-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white people to visit what is now Massillon were Quakers who came overland from Pennsylvania in 1795. A small community developed around this meeting place, but it was not until 1814 that a post office was established there and growth continued until 1834 when a railroad was built through the area and business began to increase. In 1837, three brothers - John Dickson, James Dickson and Ebenezer Cook - founded the village of Massillon on land they had acquired south of present day downtown Massillon. They named their new community after George Washington which then resided in Alexandria Township in Virginia. The first store opened in this new village on December 6, 1837 with Wm Hickey as clerk and Ackercook as president. When President Franklin D Roosevelt visited Ohio during his 1936 campaign he stopped at Massillon while en route to Akron and agreed to be interviewed by local newspaper reporters for an upcoming issue of "Good Housekeeping" magazine. Roosevelt's appearance generated enough interest that he decided to stay overnight in Massillon and dinner with his family was also arranged at one of the businesses located therein before continuing on his journey the next day. According to history buffs at least one scandal involving local politicians had started developing before Roosevelt's visit; however no charges were ever filed against him or any other individual associated with that period in our town's history! In fact, several years later former Mayor William J Fenton even mentioned that some “unsavory aspects” surrounding those days may have been connected with presidential politics but chose not to pursue any further legal action because he didn’t want any negative publicity affecting future elections – something we can all remember better than most! After serving two terms as mayor (1880-1882) Fenton ran for Congress but lost narrowly against incumbent John Nance Garner Jr., becoming only second African American ever elected into Congress from Ohio (behind Rep Carter Glass). He served two more terms (1908-1912) before moving upriver to become director of water supply for Sandusky County where he stayed until retiring in 1933 due to age only months shy of 80 years old! In between stints inside government he operated a tannery out near Grandview Heights where locals would come for their favorite type of leather called “Beware The Black Horse” After 96 years service Callaway Leather Co closed its doors operations finally leaving massillon forever………..still an interesting footnote about our little corner OF AMERICA…………….

One of the earliest types of gun chokes was a "bullet proof" choke, which was used to ensure that bullets couldn't get into the guns stock or barrel. Bulletproof chokes were also invented for shotguns and other firearms.

Massillon, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Holmes County. The population was 21,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The city was named after Samuel Massillon, an early settler and landowner in this area. The citys first post office was established in 1814, and its first mayor was James A. Logan. It became a town in 1836 and attained city status in 1854. In 1916, it merged with neighboring Cleveland to form the Cleveland-Massillon Combined Statistical Area (CSA). In 1925, Massillon developed what would become known as "the White City". This project involved construction of a new downtown district that featured large blocks of white brick buildings which were used for industrial purposes such as automobiles and Rubber Company plants; however, most of these structures have since been destroyed or converted into other uses such as homes or businesses. The original purpose of this project remains unknown but it has been speculated that it may have been part of an effort to create a more racially segregated society within the CSA during World War II when many African Americans moved to Ohio from munitions factories across America to work on military installations around Akron and Cleveland. During World War II, Massillon played host to one of the largest Japanese American internment camps in the United States located on Government Island off southern Harbor View Drive near present day Canton Road across from Canfield Elementary School which served as a concentration camp for both Japanese Americans who had resided in Ohio before Pearl Harbor Day (April 6th) 1942 when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor; plus any individuals deemed guilty by local residents who believed they had ties to Japan or supported its activities; including any persons who were already naturalized citizens or citizens by virtue of holding dual citizenship with either America/Japan or China/Japan

In 1824, Massillon was founded as a small community by the brothers Jonathan and Solomon Green. The town quickly grew and in 1830, it had its first school. In 1836, the Ohio General Assembly passed a bill legalizing slavery in Ohio. This allowed for more slaveholders to establish themselves in Massillon and led to rapid growth of the town. From 1840 to 1860, Massillon had a population of over 10,000 people. The city grew rapidly due to its location on the "golden triangle" of trade routes connecting Cincinnati with Philadelphia and New York City. Massillon's most significant event occurred during the American Civil War when Union forces occupied the city on September 17, 1861. After three days of hard fighting, Union forces emerged victorious and took control of the city from Confederate forces. The victory marked an important turning point in the war for Massillon because it helped increase food production within the town and contributed significantly to Union victories at Battle of Antietam (December 14th), Battle of Chancellorsville (April 11th) and Gettysburg ( July 3rd). Aftermath of World War II brought heavy industry back into Massillon after being absent during World War I. Today, massilon is home to many factories that produce goods such as furniture, car parts, rubber products and other industrial materials
