A group of men and women who lived in the area decided to use bullets as a way to protect themselves from predators and other dangers. One of the first people to use Bullets in Massillon was a man named John Rankin. He created a small company that manufactured Arrows and Pistols. Bullets were also used in war until 1865, when they were replaced by artillery fire. The first volley of Bullets fired in Massillon took place on October 8th, 1811. The bombardment started around 7:00 PM and lasted for an hour and Forty-five minutes. After the barrage ended, Captain George Brown led an investigation into what happened that night. He found that two shots had killed two people and one shot had injured another person. It is interesting to note that this was one of the earliest reports of Bullets in Massillon!

The name "Massillon" originated from the Massacres of the Shawnee in 1763, when General George Washington's force destroyed all Indian villages within sight of Fort Pitt. The first settler in Massillon was James Prentice in 1811. In 1815, Captain John Cushing and his men built a log cabin on what is now West Main Street. In 1820, Captains Nathaniel Dowling and Israel Putnam opened a store at what is now Broadway and Second Streets. In 1824, Colonel Robert Brouncker purchased land east of present-day Massillon for $16 per acre (2ยข per foot). On December 20, 1830 David Sibley founded Sibley & Co., an early dry goods store on East Market Street which later became known as Sibley's Department Store. In 1840, there were only six families residing in Massillon; by 1860 there were over 1,500 residents. A mill was constructed in 1840 by Nicholas Cline and operated until 1845; it was replaced by a larger mill which still stands today and produces flour and feed products for local farms. Manufacturing began to increase during the late 1800s with the development of massilon smelting plant started in 1899 by Wm Fenton Smelters Incorporated The company ceased operations after World War II due to pollution concerns but parts are still used today as ovens In 1915 Congressman national prohibitionist candidate Woodrow Wilson visited Massillon while he was campaigning for president Wilson got help from Doctor Jens Jensen who smuggled some liquor into America from Denmark through Cincinnati A year later Wilson issued an executive order creating Prohibition Enforcement Administration Municipal government changed hands twice during this time period with one term being held by Democrat James Murtaugh while another term went to Republican Amos Kendall Warner Bros Pictures filmed many movies around this time including High Noon (1937), Yankee Doodle Dandy (1937), Drums Across Texas (1938), The Adventures of Robin Hood (1939) and Casablanca (1942) The post office closed on October 15th 1951 due to lack of mail volumeDuring World War II much production took place at Alliance Paper Management Corp plant located off I-71 near Wooster commercial center which produced military supplies such as ammunition

In 1814, the United States acquired land along the Ohio River in what is now Massillon, Ohio. The area was rich in coal and other minerals and was also home to a large population of Native Americans. The new country began to explore its borders, looking for new lands to purchase. In 1825, President James K. Polk sent an expedition led by General Andrew Jackson into what is now Ohio Territory. They discovered gold near Massillon and decided to annex it as part of their new country. The town of Massillon quickly grew as a result of this development. It became an important center for trade and commerce on the region and soon had a strong economy based on manufacturing goods such as cannons, whiskey, rifles, saddles, clothing, crops and more. In addition to its economic importance, Massillon also attracted attention from both the American public and European diplomats because of its strategic location on the eastern border of what is now Kentucky and Indiana. Massillon's growing popularity helped make it one of the most popular destinations in America during the early 19th century. Residents erected hotels and shopping centers throughout the town while businesses produced items such as furniture, hardware supplies, boots and saddles as well as cloths and shoes for export to Europe. This growth led to social problems however; some residents were unable or unwilling to integrate with society outside of their villages while others championed a separatist lifestyle that aimed to keep Massillon separate from surrounding communitiesfolk viewed these separatists as traitors who would forfeit their homes if they joined forces with those living in nearby townships. Despite these challenges (and occasional bursts of violence), massilonians generally managed to maintain good relations with their neighbors until World War I forced them apart once again when America entered into war against Germany. After Belgium gained independence from Netherlands in 1830 following a bloody conflict known as De Heerlijke Slag (the heroic battle), many Belgians came overland through Ohio seeking refuge from Republican rule back home . As much as Massillionians wanted nothing more than friendship with their new Belgian neighbors (many who shared similar culture values), they found themselves at odds with pro-German sentiment within their own community after years of clandestine activity by local Germans . This clash eventually led to open warfare between Belgian civilians and American soldiers before finally comingto an end due primarily by international agreement negotiated by Ulysses S Grant - one man who could see both sides deadeyed
