Mason, Ohio is a town in the Ashland County seat of Sandusky. The population was 3,542 at the 2010 census. The community is named after General James Mason who fought in the American Revolutionary War and later became a member of the United States Congress. The first settler in what is now Mason was James Denton who arrived in 1797. In 1812, John Hickey laid out a road through this area which served as a transportation corridor for goods coming out of Kentucky to Toledo and other markets. The first post office in Mason was established on October 12, 1814. In 1830, George Wittenberg built a sawmill on the then-existing watercourse that forms part of today's town center. By 1840, there were over 20 businesses operating within the limits of present day Mason. In 1847, local farmer David Winters developed one of Ashland County's first corn mills and named it Wintersville after himself and his wife Sarah (née Lamb). After years of operation, Wintersville failed when demand for flour dwindled during the Great Depression; however, another business owner named Harry Hall purchased it from Hall's widow in 1951 and reopened it as an all-purpose store under the name "Hall's Mill". In 1954, about 2 miles south of where modern day Main Street meets Fourth Street lies what is now known as Old Main State Park - also called "Mason" by early residents due to its similarity in name to their home town back east - because Indiana Territorial Governor John Evans ordered all Indian villages closed by December 1st that year following Indian Rebellion leader Chief Black Hawk's capture by Ulysses S. Grant near Vincennes two weeks earlier (November 29th). This occurred just months before Indiana statehood would be granted to Ohio on November 15th (following ratification of Ulysses S.'s Treaty with Native Americans)). At that time much land within present dayAshland County had been deeded to various Native American nations including Shawnee/Creek Tribe ceded lands along with large tracts located at Three Forks Creek outside Sandusky Castle (now Defiance) while still remaining under tribal jurisdiction; these lands would come under individual ownership eventually culminating with creation of Ashland County itself via legislative act on February 14th 1881 (). A commemorative plaque recognizing Mason’s place among Indiana’s most significant events has been erected atOld Main State Park since 1984 by members of the Democratic Party Local Committee made up entirelyof women (). The most well-known of these shirts is probably the NRA’s “guns Blazing into Action” shirt which was created in 1978. It showed an image of a firearms manufacturer’s handgun blazing across the front while text read “Guns Blazing into Action – Protecting America Now!” This shirt quickly became iconic and remains popular to this day. There have also been other iterations of this shirt over the years including one that showed a person holding a rifle with ammunition falling out of it. This design originated on NRA Wagon Trainshirt which was worn by NRA members during public events such as peace rallies or train rides. Another famous version is the “Bolt Outgunned Shirt” which was designed to show support for gun laws reform efforts during the early days of US gun control legislation. This shirt featured an image of a rifle being fired with rounds flying out of it, symbolizing how guns are making people safer today. It is no surprise then that many firearms enthusiasts are fans of firearm shirts too – they represent everything that is fun and exciting about shooting sports!
