Marysville is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located about 20 miles north-northwest of Dayton and 10 miles east of Cincinnati. As of the 2010 census, the population was 10,236. The town is named after Mary Jourdan, who in 1802 settled on a farmstead now known as Marysville Township. In 1824 Marysville became the first municipality in what is now Perry County and was named for its founder, General James A. Macomb (1786–1850). The community was founded on July 6, 1822 by German immigrants George Wiedemann and Johann Friedrich von Kappelmeyer along with others from nearby Middletown and West Springfield. On November 4 that year they voted to create a government with a board of nine citizens comprising three Germans, three Americans born in Ohio or naturalized hereabouts (John Bircher, Peter Kappelmeyer Jr., Solomon Morse), one slaveholder who had been given land for free by his owner Joseph Gibbs (Samuel Ziegler) and two tax collectors from neighbouring townships – John Dickey from West Springfield and Nicholas Gentry from Middletown – to provide police services, public works such as road construction and probate court administration. In 1830 German immigrants Johann Gottlieb Beckerlein and Wilhelm Pohlgrube joined Wiedemann and Kappelmeyer; these were followed by other families over the next several years until all but one settler had left by 1840. Through their efforts, Marysville helped contribute significantly to Ohio's economic development during its earliest years. In 1833, Peter Jennings passed away at the age of ninety-four; his legacylived on through his children John F., James W., Esther J., William M., Louise B., Clara P., Franklin D., John Q,, Arthur S,,Nina K.), all of whom went on to become successful leaders in their fields. In 1911, John F.'s son William M.'s succeeded him as mayor of Cleveland; he would serve until 1951. From 1916 until his death in 1978, James W.'Sson served as treasurer for Cleveland; he would remain active throughout most of this time as well. Esther J.'Sdaughter married businessman George Romney ; together they would create one of Ohio's largest business families—the Romney brothers are currently worth over $20 billion today—and serve as influential members of government throughout the stateof Ohio . Louise B.'Sdaughter married industrialist Julius Rosenwald ; together they founded Procter & Gamble ; within twenty years their company had become one of America's largest manufacturers . Clara P.'Sdaughter married banker Alfred Hirschfeld ; together they built numerous businesses including Pepsi-Cola , Unilever , Sears Roebuck & Co . Finally , Nina K.'Sdaughter married David Rockefeller ; together they created Standard Oil which became one of America's leading oil companies
