Marysville is a town in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Mallory–Fine City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1824 and named for Mary (née McCarty). The first post office in Marysville was established on November 12, 1825. In 1852, the village of Marysville merged with the township of Morningside to form a new municipality. On March 15, 1907, the Township of Morningside annexed the villages of Griggs and Uniontown to form a new municipality also called Morningside. On May 1, 1927, all municipalities except for Marysville were dissolved and absorbed into newly created Mahoning County. On October 3rd that year, Marysville became part of the new city of Dayton. The last post office closed on December 31st 2009 due to lack of customers and operations being outsourced to other facilities in preparation for growth within Dayton-Mallory-Fine City metropolitan area which would eventually annex much more land than what had been annexed by Morningside/Griggs/Uniontown municipalities including parts of Springfield Township as well as Montgomery and Brown counties adjoining Mahoning County proper

In 1803, Marysville was founded by Ohio General James Wilkinson as a post on the Miami River. In 1814, the town became part of Indiana. In 1818, it reverted to Ohio and in 1821 it was reorganized as a township. On December 12, 1830, Marysville became an incorporated village with a population of 209. It lost its status in 1831 when it merged with the neighboring village of Aliquippa into the new town of Aliquippa. The first school in Marysville was built in 1840. The first store was opened in 1850 and the first railroad line reached Marysville in 1861. The death of Hamilton Wrightenberg led to a municipal incorporation process that allowed for more than one municipality per county within Ohio until 1907 when this system ended with the creation of Cleveland . The construction of the Erie Canal changed much of northeastern Ohio forever. With access to new markets from New York City, Factory production began declining during the mid-19th century and by 1870 many residents had left for better opportunities farther west or east; however, some remain active participants in local life to this day including Mayor Tom Fenton and Treasurer Domenick Patriarca The majority of residents were agriculturalists until after World War II when industry started moving into northeast Ohio . Many factories closed during this time but also created thousands of jobs which has helped preserve many cultural aspects associated with northeast Ohio such as small-town community spirit (the term originated here). There are now several festivals each year celebrated throughout Northeast Ohio based off some aspect related to agriculture or manufacturing - most notably Aliquippa's Pumpkin Festival which is now considered world-renowned
In Marysville, Ohio, the first steamboat operated in 1849. The town was founded by Captain George Washington Beech and his family on the Scioto River. In 1862, General Ulysses S. Grant fought a battle at Marysville against Confederate forces led by General Robert E. Lee. The town was destroyed during the battle but some of its buildings were rebuilt and continue to be used today.
