Marysville is a town in Lewis County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Toledo metropolitan area. The first settlers in Marysville were Germans who arrived from Krakow in 1810 and named their settlement "Innemberg" after their home province of Brandenburg-Prussia. In 1814, the village of Marysville was founded by Gottlieb Davenport and others within the British colony of New York on land that had been donated by John Sayre. The town site was surveyed in 1824 and chosen as the location for the new village. German immigrants filled many positions in early Marysville, including Justice of the Peace (1827), Mayor (1829–30), School Board member (1832–33), and Postmaster (1834). The first school opened in November 1830 under teacher Johann Friedrich Hägglund. A second school building was erected on West High Street between Maple Avenue and Main Street in 1837; this building served as both schools until 1908 when it burned down due to an arsonist's attempt to destroy all evidence linking it to prostitution. In 1840, Isaac Haas founded a flour mill on South Main Street while also serving as justice of peace; this mill continued operations until 1957. A post office called Marysville was established at present-day North Main Street in 1836; however, no mail reached the community until 1861 when David Forster became postmaster after service with The Gazette newspaper in Cleveland. By 1860, there were six families living in downtown Marysville with thirtythree businesses employing fifty people; insurance rates for property values over $1,000 were $5 per year up to 1800 dollars limit. Businesses included three stores ( brush mending store - built 1839 ), two groceries ( feed store - built 1850 ), one harness shop ( built 1865 ), one bakery/butterfly housewife's cooperative oven/cake factory( built 1870 ), one tailor shop/clothier's shop(built 1880), and one sawmill(built 1885). By 1870 there were eleven family homes with sixtyfive businesses employing two hundred people; premiums for property values over $1,000 ranged from $10 per year up to $500 per year limit which increased starting prices for goods above those limits from 50 cents per pound up to 3¢ per pound plus freight surcharge plus taxes etc.; rates for larger lots ran from 2¢ per square foot up to 6¢ per square foot plus freight surcharge plus taxes etc.; average premium income during these years totaled $282 . One reason why business flourished during this time period may have been because transportation costs were very low given that horse drawn wagons transported goods only about once every four weeks making trips about fifteen miles long or about eighty five miles round trip depending upon route traveled transporting local produce such as beans or corn rather than having to transport large items such as furniture or cannons via wagonloads . Another factor may have been because many farmers raised horses instead of using carts or trucks which greatly reduced shipping time and cost involved . At present day there are still some small horse farms operating but they primarily provide milk production not horseback riding services

During World War II, Marysville served as a troop training ground for the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. In 1951, the town formed a government under the new state constitution which provided for mayor-council government with a unicameral legislature. In 1978, the local school district merged with Steuben County Schools to form Steuben County Community School District No 2; however, that merger did not take place until 1986 when Steuben County School District No 3 came into being effective due to population growth within that district resulting from suburbanization of Steuben County
The town of Marysville was founded in 1814 by Captain James W. Hogg and his wife, Hannah. The first settler in the town was Isaac Brown. In 1828, Captain John Silliman purchased land in the town from Capt. Hogg and developed it into a cotton plantation. The name of the plantation was changed to “Marysville” in 1836 after Mrs. Hogg became pregnant with her second child and desired to be called “Mrs. Silliman” rather than “Captain Hogg’s Widow”. After Mr. Silliman died in 1850, the property passed through several hands until it was sold to Jno. Prentice for $1,000 in 1865. In 1870, the property was donated to the Methodist Episcopal Church for use as a parochial school campus which continues to this day as Marysville Elementary School
