Marysville is a town in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 9,851 at the 2010 census. It lies on the South Fork of the Yadkin River. The first people to live in what is now Marysville were Native Americans who hunted and gathered game within the area which is now known as Marysville. In 1792, General Nathanael Greene passed through the area and saw many Indian villages burned down by British forces during the American Revolutionary War. As a result of this experience, General Greene decided that Virginians should do something about their recently acquired land east of Charlotte. He ordered Major James Robertson to survey some land for possible settlement and he came up with the idea of forming a small community called "New Victory" near where present-day Marysville sits today. Robertson dispatched two men - David Lane and John Fenton - to start building houses and stores in what would become Marysville on November 2, 1792. By 1800, there were over twenty homes in use in what is now Marysville Township (later renamed Cabarrus County). At its peak during the early 1800’s, MarysVILLE had a population of around 350 residents; however by 1810 it had decreased to just 30 due to hard times caused by drought, epidemics such as smallpox (which killed many), skirmishes with Indians, etc.. In 1814 Confederate General Braxton Bragg crossed into North Carolina from Virginia using the Yadkin River Bridge which linked Winchesterburg with Elizabeth City on Roanoke Island offcock Key on February 14th following his retreat from Kinston during Johnston’s campaign against Richmond “in pursuit of our retreating army” according to contemporary accounts This event demonstrated Confederate military prowess as they were able to cross an important river without being detected or attacked thereby giving them an advantage over their Union opponents during their campaign against Northern secessionists . Unfortunately for Confederate soldiers struggling along Route 618 between Elizabeth City and Kinston they encountered numerous Indian encampments along this stretch including those located near present day Marysville) as well as friendly militiamen who had been posted at various strategic points throughout eastern NC in order to prevent any confederate victories from occurring . Consequently most Confederate soldiers retreated back across then bridge before reaching Kinston . It was not until after Johnston's withdrawal from Raleigh that Bragg's column reached Elizabeth City where he camped for three days before continuing downstream towards Asheboro ..... Aftermath: Between December 15th 1814 and January 15th 1865 Yankees under Ulysses S Grant advanced 5 miles beyond enemy lines forcing Lee's surrender at Appomattox Court House effectively ending all combat operations on both sides in North Carolina ........... Of note: On April 12th 1865 General Sherman sent 8 companies of cavalry northward via route 618 bridge over Yadkin River south of Elizabeth City linking Winchesterburg with Durham so that later that month Sherman could proceed eastward across Deep Bottom Creek toward Chapel Hill ........... During these events approximately 100 citizens were killed or wounded .......... In 1915 local resident J C Pope started manufacturing bullets out of lead shot having learned about it while stationed at Fort Fisher while working on naval artillery rounds When World War I began America declared war on Germany resulting in increased production capabilities for bullet making facilities ...... After WWI bullets production slowed but restarted several years later when new technology allowed more reliable manufacturing techniques ...... Today bullet production occurs at two facilities located in Ohio : one located near Dayton Reuters News Service - October 25th 2019
