In 1812, John Ziegler purchased land north of the present site of Marysville from the Miami tribe and built a cabin there. He named his new settlement after his wife, Martha (née Schumacher). In 1814, Ziegler's son George founded a gristmill on what is now Marble Hill Road. By 1830, several other owners had built mills near Marysville; however, only George's mill continued to operate until it burned down in 1880. After Ohio became a state in 1818, traders and settlers began moving into what is now Marysville from all over Northeast Ohio. By 1840, most Germans had left for Indiana or Illinois because of religious reasons or economic opportunities elsewhere. Ida Newmark moved to Marysville from Sandusky in 1865 and started an opera company that still presents its performance today at 8:00 PM on Sundays at the Masonic Temple downtown with sets by local artists including David Stone Martin and Arlene Phillips Smith.. In 1870 she married Drury Waddell who also founded and operated one of the first hospitals in America west of Detroit.. Mrs Waddell gave her home - which still stands - to serve as an infirmary for women patients during World War I when Akron couldn't provide enough medical personnel.. After Mrs Waddell passed away in 1921 daughter Evelyn donated her home acrossMain Street from her father’s house back then called “The Mansion” where many social events were held throughout community life such as dances given by local ladies every Valentine’s Day until 1975 when it was condemned due to lack of fire code compliance Marysville has experienced some significant changes throughout its history.- When General Motors moved their production plant from Toledo to Aylesbury Township starting around 1927 they encouraged villagers to move out because their factory would be closer to Route 66 whichGM really wanted access to for marketing purposes-.etta Pickard opened up her department store at 221 West Main Street called "The Partridge" which closed down around 1978 but reopened under different ownership later that year with much more expansion before closing again soon after due primarily to financial troubles... In1975 local residents petitioned ay york mayor Tom Barrett asking him notto condemn The Mansion after seeing how popular music concerts were being held inside regularly during those years...... civic leaders decided that doing nothing wasn't an option so they appealed york city council member Ted Siewert who allowed them back onto main street within 2 months......... since then numerous other businesses have opened up including several restaurants/bars along West Main Street as well as high tech companies like Check Point Software Incorporated having their HQ here since 2007

Marysville is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the Marys River. The population was 8,771 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1806 by John Miller and his family. It became a town in 1827 and then a city in 1903. The first European to visit the area was Neil Armstrong, who landed on the moon on July 20, 1969, while visiting Marysville as part of his Apollo 11 mission. John Miller's father came to America from Germany in 1796 and settled near what is now Marysville. He erected a whitesmith shop and home thereabouts which he named "Millerstown". In 1800, he married Rebecca Laughlin and they had two children: John (1799-1872), who lived most of his life in Cincinnati, Ohio; and Rachel (1801-1875). Lewis Cass bought land around Millerstown from John Miller for $8 per acre (the equivalent of $102 today). On October 15, 1806, Lewis Cass gave instructions for founding the village of Marysville on this land with five religious refugees from Delaware County - Rev. George Wright (1768-1824), Dr. Ebenezer Farnsworth (1782-1847), Mrs.( unknown ), Mr.(unknown ), all men - as trustees under direction of Judge Samuel Coltman himself*. As time passed it was realized that this small village would be unable to support itself alone so it petitioned for incorporation into Genesee County which happened on February 14th,. However since Township wasn't granted until March 3rd* township commissioners were chosen by popular vote not by commissioners elected by Townships* one commissioner went against the wishes of all other commissioners including myself because I wanted more money than an increase in salary! The only other person who didn't want to be elected school board member was Nathan Olson... but he got 1/3rd less pay than me ;) This caused some friction between myself & Nathan about who should get what *I* think we could have done better job if we just followed through with incorporation! But alas our democracy failed us again! * note 1: According to United States Census Bureau figures released in 2010 there are currently 9 townships within Genesee County TOTALING 22K people living within their borders
Marysville is a town in Delaware County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,841 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Toledo metropolitan area. The first settler in Marysville was John Dutton, who arrived in 1800. He built a log cabin on the east side of the future town and named it after his sister, Mary Jane. In 1811, John's son-in-law James Brown bought land in what would become Marysville from Dutton and began to build a gristmill there. In 1816, he married Ann White; they founded the village of Whitehall downstream of present day Marysville on a tract of land that James had purchased from Nicholas Henshaw two years earlier. The first post office was established at Whitehall in 1819; it was moved to Marysville two years later. In 1830, John Fenton organized a Methodist congregation here and named it after himself; it continued to be known as Fenton Methodist Church until 1978. In 1840, Matthias Wessel became pastor here and helped found East Liverpool Congregational Church nearby which remains one of the larger denominationsaffiliated with that church today Baptists also began arriving in significant numbers beginning about this time: Andrew Jenson baptized three people here on July 4th 1842 (the date local newspapers reported). On October 25th1845 by invitation of President Zachary Taylor an anti slavery meeting was held at Wessel's home near present day Springboro for proponents & opponents of slavery; both groups were welcome but no speeches were made due to lack attendance/time constraints
