Her husband served as Viceroy of India from 1802 until his death in 1814 and she also served as Lady Presidente da Câmara Municipal do Rio de Janeiro from 1800 to 1801; she was succeeded by her sister Hortense de L’Isle d’Aigues Hereditary Princess of Castile and León October 14th 1813). On November 8, 1800, James Ketchum opened a small store on Main Street known as "The Ketchum Store". It was one of the few stores open during the early days whentravelers arrived to explore this new area which included much of central Ohio and Indiana Territory. The store continued operation until 1938 when it burned down due to bad management by its previous owner Joice Hickey (). In 1954 a new store building replaced the original building which still stands today (). In 1903 a post office called Peru was established at 4100 State Road 9 east (now US Route 220). On February 1st 1906, Marietta incorporated as an unincorporated village under two trustees – Mrs John Ahern (later Mrs John Pape) and Mr Rufus Sibley (). The name change came about because residents wanted more than one name for their community so they could better compete with other communities within Lima-Canton metropolitan area that had been designated as villages since 1902 such as Lima Heights (), West Side Village (), South Side Village () etc.). From 1906 until 1938 there were only six residents living in Marietta proper with no infrastructure or services such as schools or churches . In 1938 however school district No 2 was organized within Lima-Canton School District #2 giving rise to some concern among citizens about possible annexation into neighboring districts should those districts become defunct . In 1961 another post office called Ashtabula opened at 6500 State Road 11 south near present day Ashtabula High School which would serve students from both towns until 1975 when Ashtabula Schools closed down completely leaving students without any form of educational assistance . At this time all former Post Offices closed except for Peru which remained open until 1978 when it too closed down following student protests over lack of education opportunities outside town limits

In 1970, voters passed a referendum that repealed incorporation into Cleveland due to concerns about its economic stability; however,Marietta continued to thrive as a small community until 1995 when it merged with neighboring Ross Township into Cleveland's fourth-largest municipality (after Cuyahoga Falls/Middletown/Summit Heights). Today, Marietta remains an independently functioning community with a rich history that has played an integral role in Cleveland's development over more than two centuries!
