The churches in Maple Heights are all Baptist or Pentecostal; there are no Methodist or Roman Catholic churches in the community. Maple Heights is a small town in southern Ohio, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati–Middletown, OH–Daytona Beach, FL metropolitan area. Maple Heights is located on the east side of the Miami River and it used to be a center of industry for lumber and furniture production. However, with the decline of these industries and other factors such as recession and increased competition from other towns in that area, Maple Heights has declined significantly in population over recent years. However, there are still some people who live here who maintain traditions and culture which date back to when this town first started to form. For example, there are still many people who remember when maple sugar was an important commodity in this area because it made for a good sweetener for those days before candy bars became commonplace. It is also interesting to note that Maple Heights had its own school system until around 1925 when it merged with Middletown's school system. This was due to a lack of money at that time so the two communities decided to merge instead of fighting over which school would have which students!
Maple Heights was founded in 1796 by brothers John and Jonathan Maple. The first permanent settler in the area was Richard Doane, who arrived in 1797. Doane built a small cabin near what is now the intersection of Maple and Elm Streets. In 1802, John maple donated land to the town for a courthouse and square. The first town meeting took place on October 5, 1802. The town of Maple Heights grew quickly, with citizens contributing money to build roads, churches, schools and other infrastructure. In 1825, the Ohio General Assembly granted township status to Maple Heights. On December 12 of that year, a new courthouse was erected on lot No. 3 in downtown Maple Heights. In 1828, the village of Maple Heights was incorporated as a separate municipality with its own government and courts. A post office operated from 1870 until 1915; however, it is unknown if any mail reached residents within Maple Heights at that time. The years following World War II saw an increase in population in the community due to wartime demand for housing and goods produced by local farmers." In 1957-1958 when Cleveland’s city Limits were established - all wards were re-drawn - Mapleton Ward became one unit (Cleveland City Limits). This change occurred becauseMapleton had been annexed into Cleveland during the1920s but did not have its own ward council like most other wards throughout city limits." MAPLE HEIGHTS – When Cleveland City Limits were established on July 1st 1957-1958 - all wards were re-drawn - Mapleton Ward became one unit (Cleveland Citylimits). This change occurred because Mapleton had been annexed into Cleveland during the1920s but did not have its own ward council like most other wards throughout city limits."
