Gun triggers have a long and varied history in Maple Heights, Ohio. Trigger designs have changed over the years to meet the needs of different firearms. The earliest trigger devices were simply mechanical locks that would hold the hammer back while the trigger was depressed. This system was used by frontier farmers to keep their shotguns and rifles in good condition. Over time, these locks became more complex and required programming to operate. The early triggers were usually made from metal and could be preset to any desired position. As ammunition became more common, gunsmiths began to add percussion caps (a type of projectile) to triggering devices in an attempt to increase fire rate. In 1857, J H Wilkinson invented a new trigger design which allowed for multiple shots to be fired with one pull of the trigger. This innovation became known as the Wilkinson System and it was soon adopted by many rifle manufacturers. During World War II,trigger mechanisms were modified extensively in order to support different firearm types. One such change involved adding a Hope plunger (an adaptor) which helped prevent vertical recoil from damaging ammunitions storage drums inside artillery cannons. Other modifications included adding guide rails on top of stocks so that shooters could better control accuracy when firing at close range

Maple Heights is a community in the village of Bedford, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Warren-Lakewood, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Maple Heights was John Grimes who arrived in 1796. A post office called Maple Heights was established in 1838, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1906. During World War II, many citizens of Maple Heights served in the armed forces either as members of the military or as civilians working for their local battalions or companies. One resident, Mrs. Ira Purdy (1916-2008), volunteered with the Women's Army Corps (WACs). Mrs. Purdy played major role training women for combat roles during World War II and later organized WACS clubs for girls throughout her hometown of Bedford and beyond. In 1957, Maple Heights voters passed a referendum to form their own town government which would have included a mayor and six trustees who would be responsible for all aspects of township life including budgeting and planning; however this idea never came to fruition because Bedford Township continued to exist unchanged until its merger into Cleveland County in 2000. In 1966 when Cedar Grove Township merged into Cleveland County, Cedar Grove's mayor had been chosen by lottery from among residents who applied to take over that position. However due to changes within Cleveland County such as the addition of more rural communities such as Maple Heights after Cedar Grove Township's annexation there were no Mayoralties held at any point within Cleveland County until 2003 when former State Representative Bob Ney became Mayorality President after being elected by constituents from his district thereby assuming responsibility for all City/Township officials including Mayoralties across all Counties within Greater Cleveland. In 2007 Mr./Msgr./Mrs.(first initial) Floyd made history when she became the first female Mayoralty President and currently serves alongside her husband/ predecessor Mr./Msgr./Mrs.(last initial)
