Mansfield is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,873 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Cincinnati–Warren Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mansfield was founded in 1814 by General George Washington and Captain John Mansfield. The town sprang up around a large mill which opened in 1798 and continued to be run until 1870 when it was sold to the Dayton Manufacturing Company. In 1892, the mill closed due to low demand for flour and other products from local farmers. Prior to this time, Mansfield had been an agricultural community with small-scale production of goods such as hay, oats, beans, corn and potatoes. However, during the late 19th century industrial growth began to take hold in Mansfield with mills manufacturing items such as copperware, radios and automobiles. In 1925 the factory burned down and did not resume operations until 1992 after being rebuilt using state money from a bond issue referendum passed by voters that year In recent years there has been some redevelopment taking place including The Lighthouse Casino & Resort whichopened in 2017 Mansfield is located at (41.708695,-83.855711). This was a time when advances in semiconductor technology and device design made it possible to create high-power amplifier chips that could drive light lenses and other optical devices. In 1975, two pioneers in this field, Jack Gleason and David Sarnoff, founded Cognex Corporation to develop innovative new products for optics research and manufacturing. At Cognex, they worked on several groundbreaking projects including the development of a durable white light lens called the "Gleason Dome" and the first use of Fresnel lensing to improve brightness and contrast in images. During these years, much progress was made in developing innovative equipment for controlling light rays as well as fabricating advanced photonic integrated circuits (PICs). In 1992, CSIRO's Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Photonics Development Incorporated released an article entitled "Optical Amplification" which outlined some of the key developments happening at that time. The article showed how PICs were being used to generate spectral values corresponding to different colors using color filters while also creating white light amplification systems that could be used for image processing or communications purposes. In recent years there has been continued innovation within both photonic technology and optical accessory design so that many new applications have been developed such as 'smart glasses' which can track data or control music playback without ever having to take your eyes off the screen!

Mansfield, Ohio is a town located in Mansfield Township, Fairfield County, Ohio. The population was 9,898 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-MansFIELD metropolitan area. The first settler in Mansfield Township was James Croad (1786-1853). He and his family were farmers who built log cabins on a small farm near present day downtown Mansfield. In 1814, John Gorman settled in the township and built a house on what is now Main Street. Norseman Lutheran Church was built in 1815 adjacent to Gorman's home. The first school in the township was opened by Mrs. Catharine Smith in 1827. A gristmill was erected about 1830 by Nicholas Weiland and later bought by John Hildebrandt. By 1840, there were six stores in the township with one grocer and fifteen residents. In 1852, when Fairfield County became an unincorporated community, Mansfield became its own town under the name of "Mansfeld". The first post office operated from 1852 to 1861 under the name "Harrison". In 1875, two brothers named George started a grocery store on North High Street which would become one of the largest grocery stores in northeastern Ohio until it closed its doors in 1978. One of George's sons reopened it as The George Store after he acquired ownership of it from his father’s estate twenty years later during Fairfield County’s centennial celebration celebrations In 1916 Henry Kapp established Kapp Drug Stores hereVineyards had been established around this time along with other businesses including three hotels and several manufacturing plants that produced agricultural products such as flour and cheese for local markets
Mansfield was founded in 1796 by General James Mansfield. In 1814, it became the capital of Ohio Territory. The city was named for General Mansfield, who died in office in 1815.
