The Patent-12 revolver is considered to be one of the first handguns ever made. The popularity of pistols like the Colt Model A led to other manufacturers coming into town with their own versions of handguns like revolvers and shotguns. One such company was Webley & Scott who founded their company in 1880 in what is now Mansfield Township. They were responsible for creating some of the most popular firearms including the Browning machinegun, which remains today one of America’s most iconic weapons. Webley&Scott also produced revolvers under license from Colt including models such as the Mark VII and IX which remain popular to this day. In 1915, Webley & Scott merged with Henschel Corporation forming world’s first firearm manufacturing monopoly known as British American Armory (BAA). This company manufactured all types of ammunition including rifles, shotguns, grenades and shell cases before being acquired by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1920 becoming Winchester Ammunition Corporation (Winchester). In 1935, Winchester Ammunition Corporation merged with Remington Arms Company becoming Remington Arms Co., Incorporated (Remington) Today there are over 350 firearm dealers operating within Mansfield limits making it a playground for shooters from all over America as well as Europe! Mansfield is a city in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 12,683 at the 2010 census. Mansfield was founded in 1821 by James and Elizabeth Mansfield. It became a city on February 9, 1923. The current mayor is Frank Gaffney. Mansfield was originally part of the Miami Township under the jurisdiction of Cincinnati. On July 1, 1800, portions of Miami Township were taken to form what would become Medina County. In 1821, James andElizabeth MansFIELD founded Mansfield after purchasing land from the Delaware Company for $5 per acre (equivalent to $ today). The town plat was dated March 3, 1822 and it specified that “the said James Mansfield shall have freehold title to all lands herein mentioned” including parts of Fairview Township which would later become North Royalton Township. In 1825-26, when part of Medina County became known as Ross County due to Ohio becoming a state in 1824 following the Mexican War (1846-48), James Mansfield sold some tracts of land in Mansfeldtown to John Cranch and others for $10 per acre ($equivalent to $ today). This sale helped make possible what would become North Royalton Township which incorporation took place on January 8, 1830 with a population of just seven people – one male and six females – living on 6 acres (2 ha) lots creating an agricultural community with modest resources but strong pioneers spirit that continues into this day In 1840 when Brownsville passed through Hamilton Pike into Medina County and started being surveyed for township boundaries - its land extending along present day Richland Rd eastward - residents desired their section alongRichland Rd rather than continue downHamilton Pike so they formed their own township named East Richland Township according to original plat map dated November 17th 1840 . That same year Elisha Beall settled on his farm just east of where Richardson Rd now meets Indian Fields Rd about two miles northwest of present time . Mr Beall served as Clerk of District Court from 1865 until his death in 1916 . After he passed away his wife Anna continued running her business until her retirement in 1978 before moving into her home currently located at 214 Richardson Road near I-75 exit 93A . From here she has been able to view many changes taking place within the city limits over the years while continuing her historical perspective providing history education programs throughout much of summer months
Mansfield was founded in 1795 by Samuel Mansfield and his family. The town was named for Sir John Mansfield, an English soldier who fought in the American Revolution. In 1825, the town became a part of the United States of America. In 1870, Mansfield honored its founder with a day of celebrates called "Samuel Mansfield Day."
