Mansfield is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 43,813 at the 2010 census. Mansfield is the county seat of Cuyahoga County and home to the Mansfield Arsenal Ammunition Plant, one of the largest ammunition factories in North America. In 1836, John Smeaton founded a small gunnery business on High Street in town that became known as Smeaton's Gun Works. In 1840, he moved his business to what is now Wilson Park and began producing firearms for sale to local farmers. The company prospered until 1851 when economic difficulties forced Smeaton to sell his assets outright to James Houlihan of Cincinnati for $10,000 dollars. A few years later Houlihan merged with two other American companies, Wm. Benge & Sons and Anderson Manufacturing Company to form National Firearms Corporation (NFC). During NFC's heyday from 1889-1914 it produced over 350 million rounds of ammunition including rifles and shotguns used by both US military and law enforcement agencies worldwide. After World War I NFC collapsed due to technological advances; however its successor company NFA Arms has continued production since then In 1830s there were two lots of land grant called "The Townships" in present day Mansfield Township: Ontario Township west side and Medina Township east side which compose much of today's township boundaries. These Lots were surveyed between 1793-1796 by Timothy Pickering under Govt Order No: 436 from Northwest Territory Survey Lot 7 on July 10th 1793 In 1812 when Ohio was admitted into the Union as a state John Fenton granted 640 acres along highwater mark on Scioto River bounded miles eastward by Miami Township lying within Greenville County south bounds lying within Lucas County north bounds being all together about 12 miles wide including part or all of present day Mansfield Township adjoining said Miami and Greenville Counties The first Europeans who came through this area were Dutch fur traders working outposts near the mouth of the Muskingum River in what is now Cleveland . They named their trading post “Houwelingen” meaning fishing place because they could catch large fish hereabouts . Some time before 1800 some Englishmen also came through this area but no record exists as to where they went or what they did . It is thought that some may have been prospectors looking for gold veins near this point Dutch explorer Hendrick de Valk discovered rich copper deposits near modern-day Dayton while exploring for new routes around Great Lakes region in 1631 during his journey from Holland Northeast via Lake Erie then along the Great Lakes shoreline northwestward all the way back down again - something that had never been accomplished before! He named these sites “Cleveland” after King George III visiting this area in 1632 en route from Holland

In 1892, the Mansfield Arsenal was established in Mansfield, Ohio. It became a national center for ammunition production and distribution. The arsenal produced over 1 million rounds of ammunition per year. In 1937, the armory was closed and its products were redistributed to other plants.
Mansfield is a town in the eastern part of Ohio, United States. The population was 13,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Mansfield– Highland Heights, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white settlers in what would become Mansfield arrived in 1802 and founded a log cabin on the banks of the Mahoning River. In 1812, John Dennett and his brother Peter built a house on what is now Elm Street. They named their home "Dennett's Grove" after their father-in-law, James Dennett (1772-1837). In 1828, David Haggerty settled here and built a large frame farmhouse that still stands today on Main Street. By 1840, there were 10 families living in Mansfield proper with 150 acres (60 hectares) of land under cultivation. In 1847, John Prentice bought 1/4 mile (0.6 km) of frontage on the north side of Mahoning River for $1 from Solomon Marks to build a new courthouse and jail which he called "Prentice's Landing". This site became known as Mansfield Square after him. He also developed an industry based around raising horses and cattle by means of artificial lighting – one such venture was selling electric lights to businesses in downtown Mansfield beginning in 1865. In 1870, George Stephenson erected the first steam locomotive in America – No. 523 – at nearby Uniontown Railroad Station; this locomotive derailed just south of Main Street nearPresentation Chapel before arriving at its destination about two hours later unharmed! The event generated much excitement throughout town as people could see both engine and tender disappear downriver into downtown Cleveland! On July 4th, 1898 during an ice storm lasting several hours damage was done to many homes within minutes resulting in over $25 worth of losses reported including total destruction to 3 barns (& cider press), 2 outbuildings (& stable), 2 orchards (& 3 cows), 1 orchard & 2 hay wagons & 6 hogsheads filled with apples! Causes: Unknown but most likely caused by freezing rain mixed with snowmelt overnight Saturday night followed by thunderstorms early Sunday morning

Mansfield, Ohio is a town in Richland County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,141 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mansfield was founded in 1814 by English settlers as a small village on the Scioto River. The town grew rapidly during the late 19th century due to its strategic location near transportation hubs such as Dayton and Cincinnati and its close proximity to large mills and factories. In 1916, Mansfield became one of two towns in Richland County to be incorporated as a city; it retains this status today. In 1927, Mansfield became home to the world's first all-electric streetcars system when it opened between Dayton and Cincinnati using new technology from Westinghouse Electric Corporation. In 1945, Mansfield's airport was built providing air access for much of central Ohio. In 2013–14, Mansfield experienced significant growth with the opening of several high-end restaurants and bars along Commercial Street which has since become known as "The Strip". The downtown area continues to see increased development with plans for a new ballpark that would house retail space as well as housing for workers who will create jobs within walking distance of the stadium
Mansfield was founded in 1796 by John Mansfield and his family. The village was named for Mansfield's father, who had purchased the land from the Delaware River Indians. The village grew quickly, and by 1812 it had a population of 100 people. In 1817, Mansfield became a county seat of Harrison County.
