In 1851 Macedonia had 2 churches – one German Lutheran and one Methodist – 10 schools – 9 for colored children and 4 boarding schools for boys only – 11 blacksmiths/forge operators; 6 Journeymen Tailors; 5 farmers; 1 blacksmith; 1 shoemaker; 3 bootmakers/hinderers; 4 tailorsmiths; 1 musician (flute player); 8 Laborers ( Agricultural Laborers ); 2 Laborers ( Housewives ); 5 Lumberjacks ; 1 Carpenter ; 3 Machine Operators ; two weavers (later changed to spinners) . In 1871 there were 264 residents with an average household size of 3.06 persons and an average income of $8,875 per year. The village was annexed by the city of Cleveland on November 12th, 1870 as part as part of its effort to makeCLEVELAND THE MEXICAN CITY OF THE EAST COAST . When Cuyahoga County merged with Summit County in 1921, Macedonia became part of newly formed Summit County as well. In 1974, Macedonia-Lima Township Inc., a non-profit educational organization chartered by local government leaders in Lima, Ohio to promote village development adjacent to Mahoning Valley Agricultural Center (now known as Warren) voted to secede from Summit County and rename itself "Macedonia Township."
