Macedonia is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. Macedonia is part of the Lima–Marietta Micropolitan Statistical Area. Macedonia was first settled by German and Dutch immigrants in the early 1800s. The town name means "place where Macedons fought." In 1811, Macedonia became a county seat of Clinton County and was also named for King George I of Greece and England (1797-1827). In 1905, Macedonia became a city when it combined with neighboring Marietta to form the Lima–Marietta Micropolitan Statistical Area. The area now includes parts of Delaware, Kent, Morrow, Stark and Union counties as well as parts of Athens, Ohiopyle and Xenia townships in central Ohio. The original village site of Macedonia had been founded by Nicholas Czerny in 1793 on land that he acquired from George Washington after Battle of Yorktown. He renamed it Stojkovce after his patron saint, Stojkovci (Slavic: Стоваковичский). In 1811, Macedonia became an Intrastate political subdivision within Clinton County under the provisions set forth in the Northwest Territory Act (15 Statutes at Large No. 321). After being organized as a city on December 16th 1906 by act of Congress approved December 3rd 1905 through An act entitled "An act to create cities within this State", Macedonia soon becoming one of America's most populous cities with over three hundred thousand citizens according to 1910 census data gomacked by MSA publications . With rapid growth came social changes; liquor sales began unrestricted throughout muchofthecity until prohibition ended in 1933; professional football was played at various venues until joining OSU Athletic Director Earle Bruce's program beginning with their debut against Bowling Green November 15th 1926 which resulted in $4 thousand awarded including ; two sets of artificial turf fields on campus...the first American Football game played on university soil

Macedonia, Ohio was founded in 1821 by Macedonian immigrants as a village on the Scioto River. The area that is now Macedonia was first settled by Native Americans and then by European settlers who came to the area during the early 1800s. In 1821, Macedonia was incorporated as a village and in 1834 it became a town. Macedonia experienced significant growth during the 19th century, with large-scale immigration and growth in industry. The population of Macedonia increased from around 1,000 people in 1834 to over 10,000 people by 1900. There were also major changes during this time: Macedonia became an overwhelmingly white community while Black Americans continued to play important roles in the economy and society. In addition, Macedonian women played an important role in social life and politics during this time period. After World War I, Macedonian refugees began arriving in Cleveland due to various reasons including political instability overseas and economic setbacks within their homeland. As more refugees arrived, Macedonia became increasingly diverse both racially and politically; however, many of these changes remain relatively unknown to modern-day residents. However, through its history and current community form – which owes much credit to its Romanian-American roots – Macedonia has preserved some of its cultural values and traditions while also becoming an valuable resource for Clevelanders looking for cultureurally rich neighborhoods outside of downtown or central business district areas
Macedonia was a small, southeastern European kingdom that exists today as a constituent country of the Republic of Macedonia. Macedonian history dates back to the time before its incorporation into Yugoslavia in 1991. The kingdom was first formed from the former regions of Thrace and Pafos, following centuries of Ottoman rule. In 2013, it reached an agreement with Greece to rename itself Republic of Macedonia after centuries-old royal titles and institutions there.
