Lyndhurst, Ohio is a small town in the Buckeye State of Ohio. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. In 1942, during World War II, local residents secured passage of the United States Social Security Act which created Social Security Administration Service Centers at various locations across Ohio under WPA management; these centers were eventually renamed “Social Security Administration Centers” (SSACs) within Lyndhurst Village – this designation remains today for all SSACs withinLyndhurst Village except one which has been renamed “Ulysses S Grant Presidential Library” due to its current location on First National Bank Drive adjacent to Ulysses S Grant Presidential Cemetery (heritage site administered by nearby Fairfield Township). In 1951-1952, following enactment of Medicare legislation – which would provide health insurance coverage for American citizens over age 65 – Mrs. Florence Hatch organized a bedroom/family room initiative campaign in her home that ultimately led to establishment of Planned Parenthood Health Services Clinicnasium on Main Street in Lyndhurst Village as well as other Community Health Centers throughout rural America through Medicaid expansion under President Lyndon B Johnson's healthcare reform program known as Medicare Part D . In recent years there have been several efforts made locally and regionally to revive interest or redevelopment around Lyndhurst including: restaurateur Joe’s Crab Shack opening up shop & dining space inside Nancy Lane Presbyterian Church on Main Street; development proposals for an open-air shopping mall off US 231 just south of town center; construction updates for PNC Field just northeast of town center which includes plans for

Lyndhurst was founded in 1834 by Isaac Selwyn and his wife, Hannah. The village grew quickly due to its location within the rolling hills of southern Ohio and its close neighbors. In 1865, when Lyndhurst became a city, it had a population of about 350 people. Some things that remain from this time include the old post office building which is now used as housing; the remains of an early candy company which once produced many flavors of sugar highs; and some small museums located throughout town including one dedicated to local history (the Museum of American History).
Lyndhurst was founded in 1810 by James and Elizabeth Lyndhurst. The Lyndhursts were pioneers in the area of transportation, founding a wagon road between Cincinnati and Dayton. They also built the first gristmill in Ohio. In 1814, they donated land to the town for a public square. The town name was changed to Lyndhurst in honor of the founders.
