During the war, both sides used binoculars for surveillance and reconnaissance purposes. After the war, people began selling binoculars online which made them even more popular. Today, binocularity is considered an essential tool for anyone who wants to learn about birds and nature at a closer level.

Lyndhurst is a town in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,811 at the 2010 census. Lyndhurst is part of the Columbus–Middletown, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Lyndhurst was Isaac Smith and his family who arrived in 1788. They were followed by other families over the next several decades. In 1814, John Lyon settled in what is now Lyndhurst and began to grow apples. By 1825, much of what is now Lyndhurst had been developed as a small town with homes on both sides of the street and an important local school system that served students from pre-K through high school. The first post office was established in 1827 in what is now Lyndhurst and continued to be run until it was discontinued in 1902. In 1851, Lyman Capps built a windmill on Newark Creek which became the community's only water source until 1931 when a new water tower was built. In 1886, Jeptha Goode founded Goode Creamery which became one of Ohio's leading creameries for many years before being sold to Nestle Purina in 1998. In 1932, Rufus Hensarling opened Hensarling’s Supply Store which remains one of Lyndhurst’s most important commercial institutions today (closed) . A number of industries have played significant roles within Lyndhurst over the years; these include agriculture (canned goods and agricultural machinery), manufacturing (bedding products such as sheets and towels), service sectors such as retail trade (including grocery stores), education (through local schools) and construction (a variety of businesses including carshops). A few notable examples are: Goode Creamery closed its doors following World War II but reopened under new ownership several times; Hensarling’s Supply Store operated continuously until it closed its doors again during the late 1990s; while American Can has been operating here since 1915

In 1605, Dutch scientist Christiaan Huygens developed a binocular microscope that he using to study plants at a distance. Binoculars became popular among European nobility in the 18th century because they allowed them to observe scenes up close without being observed. In 1792, Englishman John Herschel developed an improved pair of binoculars that could be worn around the neck like a necklace so that people could see things nearby more clearly than with traditional eyeglasses. He called these " Herschel glasses ". Interestingly, Herschel's goggles were initially designed as eye protection for coal miners working in mines but soon found use as scientific equipment by scientists and engineers throughout the 19th century.

Lyndhurst is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, founded in 1821 by General David Hunter and his father-in-law, Colonel Solomon Van Buren. It is located in the northeastern corner of Montgomery County, about 12 miles (19 km) southwest of Dayton and 9 miles (14 km) northeast of Cincinnati. Lyndhurst is also home to the University of Dayton, one of the largest public universities in Ohio. The population was 9,037 at the 2010 census. The Town of Lyndhurst was organized on December 1st 1821 by General David Hunter with Colonel Solomon Van Buren as its first Mayor. The town was named after Sir George Lyndhurst who had been an early settler in what is now Montgomery County and who donated land for the town site. The first store opened within two weeks and soon there were several stores and restaurants along Main Street. A post office was established here on November 15th 1825 under the name "Newburgh". In 1830, President Andrew Johnson visited Lyndhurst while he was campaigning for office and gave a speech at Fenton's hotel which helped to start many small businesses around this time including a gristmill which still stands today along with dozens of other shops that have thrived since then such as High School gymnasiums, Elks Lodge #567 & 626 restaurant on Broadway Avenue & Academy Drive., Methodist Church (later converted into a Baptist church), doctor's surgery (now called First Family Medical Center), Laundromat/Dryer place (now defunct), ice cream parlor/Cafeteria Lynderwood & Dwight Streets., Lion's Den golf course built in 1922 and currently closed due to fire damage done during Hurricane Floyd; it reopened after being renovated in 2009 - see website for more information). Lyndhurst took off when word spread about plans to build a new university close by which would attract students from all over Northeast Ohioans! On October 15th 1836 United States Congressman James Kahl set out from Cleveland on horseback to meet Governor John Morton with an offer to purchase lands adjacent to what would become Dayton if votes could be obtained for school construction between Dayton Township westward up Interstate 71 through Butler County until reaching Loudon Township eastward until intersectingwith Hamilton Township eastward where they proposed building schools together instead! This proposal went unheard but resulted in Congress passing An Act To Establish A National Seminary For The Education Of Foreigners near Fortieth Street And Third Avenue Which Was approved February 2d 1799!!!!! This act provided seed money for future college construction!! A group led by Drusilla Pinkney traveled down I-71 from Cincinnati on Saturday night September 8th 1840and met with US Representative James Kahl again at Butler county line just south of where Middletown now sits . They told him that they needed $10OOO dollars plus interest just so they could get started building a proper seminary .Kahl agreed but wanted assurances that no religious denominations were going to be discriminated against while trying to get these funds !! They finally got their wish when President James Kahl personally purchased property east of I-71 between Butler county line and Raccoon Valley for $10OOO dollars!!! It wasn't long before plans changed again – this time because Lynderwood Village trustees objected strenuously to any college being built there without their permission !! So another meeting was convened on January 10th 1840between representatives from Lynderwood Village trustees Thomas Hynes, Archibald Preble Jr., Elijah Hicks alias “Hicks” Joseph Frazier etcetera as well as US Congressman James Kahl who successfully bought back part of Lynderwood village lot No 5 giving them back their right not too build anything without written consent from them!!!! As you can imagine this created quite some political turbulence withinLyndhurst community!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Finally on Thursday March 2d 1840 men representing both villages met face-to-face outside government buildings at 4pm under heavy guard resulting in final approval allowingLyndhurstVillage Trustees To Build A College NEAR THEIR LOT NO 5 ON WOODLAND ROAD FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ). Ladies please do not go near or take pictures inside those old building cause we may still have some memories left behind LOL). We are proudest day ever accomplished here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
Lyndhurst was one of the first communities in Ohio to be founded. It was named for General George Washington, who had been born in this town in 1758. The first settler in Lyndhurst was Daniel Boone, who arrived in 1774. In 1812, the village became a county seat, and it remained that way until 1957. Lyndhurst is also home to the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum.
