Lyndhurst, Ohio is home to the largest ammunition plant in the United States. The plant was started by J.B. Maynard in 1892 and continued operated until 1986. It produced over 1 million rounds of ammunition a day. Ammunition production stopped due to economic reasons in 1986, but parts of the plant still stand today used for research and development purposes by various firearms companies around the world.

Lyndhurst, Ohio was founded in 1824 by Captain John L. Caldwell and his wife Esther as a small community of twenty-four people on the Scioto River. The first gunsmith in Lyndhurst was David White. In 1827, the Caldwell family moved to what is now Huntington Heights, Ohio and began to stock their own shop with tools and firearms. In 1828 Captains Caldwell's son Nathaniel bought land in Lyndhurst for a permanent home and began construction of what is now known as Old Park House. In 1830 Captain Caldwell's son Ezra purchased additional land northeast of Lyndhurst and built an addition to house his guns, ammunition storage, and other equipment. This structure still stands today as the Administration Building for the Township of Lyndhurst. Captain John Ladd Caldwell (1811-1886) also played a significant role in early Ammunition history at Lyndhurst with his purchases of cannonballs from France in 1836 and reloading machines from England in 1840. He became well known throughout central Ohio for selling quality ammunition at competitive prices which set him apart from other dealers. His legacy continues through his grandson Elisha Seddon Caldwell who currently runs the company alongsidethe original Captain John Ladd Caldwell store building located on Broad Street across from Park House Museum . The famous Battle of Gettysburg was fought on July 4th 1863 near present day Uniontown, PA between Confederate General Robert E Lee's Army of Northern Virginia commanded by General Jubal Early and Union General Ulysses S Grant's Army of Central Pennsylvania commanded by Major-General George Meade including artillery units under Colonel Augustus Milroy & Lieutenant Colonel Josiah Gregg among others resulted in over 50,000 casualties among both sides making it one of America’s most costly military engagements ever with over $3 billion dollars spent total
Lyndhurst is a town in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,873 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Cincinnati–Daytona Beach metropolitan area. Lyndhurst was founded in 1836 by Isaac Sheppard and his family. The community was named for General Philip Lyndhurst, an American Revolutionary War general who fought in Canada and the Caribbean theater. Lyndhurst is located at (41.919202). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which is land and is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 2,743 people, 1,039 households, and 611 families residing in the town. The population density was 704.4 people per square mile (291.5/km²). There were 1,236 housing units at an average density of 311.8 per square mile (130/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98% White; 0% Black or African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% from other races; and 2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3%of the population

Lyndhurst is a small town in Defiance County, Ohio, United States. The population was 592 at the 2010 census. It is the home of Lyndhurst High School and first high school in Defiance County. The town was founded in 1802 by George Wilkinson and named for his wife (also named Lyndhurst). In 1825, Wilkinson donated land to create what is now the high school campus. The original gymnasium used as a labor camp during World War I remains attended by students today. Lyndhurst's history goes back to 1802 when George Wilkinson and his wife, Hannah, settled on some property east of present day Lyndhurst on the Scioto River. They called their new settlement "Lyndhurst" after their daughter Lynda who had recently been born to them in England. There are several accounts of how Lyndhurst got its name: one says that it was given to the community by Colonel Nathan Bedford Forrest because he thought it would be a good place for black people to live; another account has it that when Captain John Sweeny saw this beautiful spot on the Scioto River he decided that it would make an excellent location for a military post; still others say that General David Ralston suggested naming the community after himself because he felt very honored by being given such an important job assignment as creatingDefiance County from parts of six other counties. In 1825, George Wilkinson donated land on which what is now the high school campus would be built. That same year, he also donated $200 towards building an academy which became Lyndhurst College in 1912-13. When lyndhurst college opened its doors there were only 8 students! Many famous alumni have come through this institution including Edward Rutherfords son Lieutenant General James Caldwell Randolph who commanded American forces during World War II; basketball legend Julius Erving who attended from 1947-1951; actor Tom Hanks who graduated from here in 1984; author/commentator Rick Riordan who graduated from here in 2000 and currently resides in Oregon; film producer Jerry Bruckheimer ; artist Barry Mann ; and many more! Today, Lyndhurst continues to serve as both a vibrant community center and educational powerhouse with over 350 registered students enrolled at various levels ranging from pre-kindergarten through college level courses and beyond! With a rich history dating back over 160 years, you can feel confident knowing that your community will continue hand holding you through life's milestones while making sure you feel like part of something larger than yourself – all while looking down upon you every day!
Lyndhurst was founded in 1801 by John and Jane Lyndhurst. The Lyndhursons were the first white settlers in what is now Lyndhurst Township, Ohio. In 1806, they built a log cabin on the site of their current home. The Lyndhursons were among the first settlers to grow corn, beans, and squash for sale inLyndhurst Township. They also raised horses and chickens. The Lyndhursons sold their farmstead in 1836 to James Wiedeman. Wiedeman made upgrades to the farmhouse, which he named "The Highland". He also built a barn, three outbuildings, and a school house near his home. Over time, other farmers followed Wiedeman's example and developed farms in the township. In1887, Alfred Schieffer bought The Highland from Wiedeman. Schiefferoli ran it as a dairy until 1912 when he moved it to its present location next to his garage on State Route 2243A
