There were no Latinos or black residents as of that year. The community's name comes from Oskar Erikson's novel "The Grapes of Wrath". One account suggests that the namesake came to mind when looking for a place where local apples could be gathered, as the trees near his farm had an excellent storage capacity for apples. Another story suggests that one ofldhurst's trustees donated the land on which the present day town stands to charity; this allowed for construction of a schoolhouse on the property starting in 1872-. A post office called "Lyndhurst" opened in 1825 and served until 1865 because mail from other villages was then transported by boat downriver to Newark, then transferred by stagecoach to Lyndhurst, before being delivered by horse and wagon to customers' homes. It is not clear how many letters were actually sent through this post office; however, it is likely that few if any letters reached their destination because intervals between deliveries increased with railroad construction along the river corridor. Additionally, due to Frederick Law Olmsted’s design priorities for Cleveland – including making downtown more pedestrian-friendly – mail service within Cleveland ended at its peak between 1871 and1875 . When Lyndhurst started serving Village No 7 instead of Township No 1 like other townships it did so without any previous planning or discussion with village leaders since they just gave them all title deeds to parcels of land - something village officials still can't understand today! In fact township officials only received verbal notification about what happened back when Lyndhurst still served Township No 1...the deed registrations show Lyndhurst serving both Townships'. In 1903 Mayor George Sperling decidedLyndhurst should become its own municipality separate from Township No 1 based off citizens' wishes although some say Mayor Sperling may have been influenced by banker Waddell who wanted Lyndhurst incorporation into his bank after getting financial help during tough times caused by lack of production among industrybased businesses around Cleveland during Waddell's presidency - another mystery shrouded ever since! Lyndhurst has always been a small town and has never had more than 1000 residents at any given time even though it has had over 10 elected officials representation on boards & committees since 1800-ish! lyndhurst also doesn't rely on government services such as schools etc., but gets everything else directly from our LOCAL providers eg: churches/synagogues/mosques etc., gas stations/cafes etc., grocery stores etc...It is interesting to note that much like other small towns throughout America we actually have DOWN RIVER COMMUNITIES WITHIN THE AREA OF OUR SCHOOLS & BUSES...very unusual these days huh?

In 2001, Lyndhurst became one of four towns in Ohio to be granted city status. Today, Lynndhurst is an important community with a rich history that continues to make contributions to its surrounding communities. Its downtown is home to several restaurants and businesses along with State Route 129 which connects the town with Stroudsburg and Johnstown. With its growing economy and vibrant population, Lynndhurst is poised for continued growth into the future.
