After initial exploration failed to find any significant gold deposits at that location he returned to his home country with an eye towards developing these new lands into a fur trading post with potential future mines within walking distance of his home town where he could continue this exploitation should fortune ever turn his way again He recommended that Lima become America's first capital because "the site would be most convenient for Government House (the old capitol), which would be constantly under repair; it would be easily accessible by all parts of the territory; it [would] afford commodious quarters for Government Officers; there would be natural advantages in its situation as well as other features." Fort William Henry Harrison built at what is now downtown Warsaw upon disestablishment of the British military garrison there on October 14th, 1794 was completed two years later on November 10th under construction by Colonel James Dearborn after land grants were awarded by President George Washington to Major General Marquis De Lafayette who served as Military Governor during Spanish American War (1898) ; this fortification became known as Deaf Havana or La Banda del Rio Colorado Tower due to early SpanishAmerican attacks against US posts along river banks near modern day Ironton OH On September 12th 1800 Ulysses S Grant arriving via Canandaigua Lake arrived at Council Bluffs IA ahead of official Ulysses S Grant Overland Expedition led by General Richard Mifflin & Lieutenant Colonel Augustus Chauncey .
