Lima, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Franklin County. The population was 47,814 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in Franklin County, after Dayton. The town site was surveyed by Captain John Callender under instructions from General David Wooster during the Northwest Territory Survey days of 1812–13 as part of efforts to establish townsite sites for tanneries and other commercial purposes within Franklin County's boundaries. laid out according to plat book D&C 25 page 522…As early as 1826 Captains James Waddell & Thomas Sibley surveyed parts of this township….When navigation on the Miami River became practicable an additional wharfage (now known as Walton Wharf) along its course below Lima Creek was built…." In 1830 territorial surveyor Ebenezer Gist recommended building a jail but no jail was built due to lack of funds; however, prisoners were housed at various local homes until 1850 when an asylum facility became available at Lebanon Township adjacent to present day Union Station." The town site passed through several hands before being purchased by Jens Jensen in 1865 for $5,000." After being damaged by fire on July 4th 1865, Mr. Jensen donated land for a new courthouse which opened March 1st 1870 with Judge Joseph Hickey presiding over proceedings..." In 1902 citizens voted 124% against annexation into Cleveland so Lima experienced its own incorporation as a separate municipality; however this effort failed due to strong opposition from residents." On December 3rd 1907 issue #2145 of The Vindicator newspaper included an article about how much wheat had been grown around Lima since 1825;however no wheat crops have been found since then…." In 1909 Rev George Cook organized a Presbyterian church announced plans for build school buildings but problems arise with raising money…." After World War I development stalled while demand increased for housing projects…." Today Peruñez Brothers Retail Store provides community services such as grocery shopping and lawn care….. In May 2000 American painter Edward Munch created his largest public artwork ever entitled "Mother Earth: A Totem Pole" installation measuring 54 feet high x 30 feet wide x 26 feet deep inside Stroudsburg Museum Of Art located at 8 North Third Street…" Although originally conceived as part of "Columbus Day processions" throughout central Ohio preceding National Day USA celebration on July 4th2000 Munch decided against participating after learning that many participants carried Native American artifactsensitive whose use he did not approved…" As part of permanent display Munch changed direction midway through construction resulting in large pieces lasting 6 months eachweather permitting…..In Spring 2006 Local artist Matt Burden created large mixed media piece entitled "Untitled #1″ installed outside City Hall next door to Mayor Jim Beavers proclamation desk commemorating 100 years commemorationof Luchresiña Moreno family farmstead storiedas one of America's most important Hispanic families…………..In Fall 2007 local artist Shawn Weingarten createdinstallation entitled “Untitled #2″ located inside McKinley Park off First Avenue South opposite Olentangy High School……ongoing project

Lima, Ohio is a small town in the state of Ohio located on the Scioto River. The population was 7,859 at the 2010 census. Lima is the county seat of Stark County and home to the University of Toledo. The area that now comprises Lima was first settled by Native Americans in pre-historic times. The first permanent European settler in what is now Lima was Johnstone Lewis in 1813. The town's name derived from an Indian word meaning "meadow." In 1827, surveyors named the town after General James Kahlil Gibbons, who had fought in the Mexican War as a general under Andrew Jackson. In 1892, a group of local farmers organized what became known as The Lima Land Company to purchase 640 acres (250 hectares) of land east of present-day Lima from Anthony Wayne Morrissey for $10 per acre ($1 million total). This large tract would later become known as “The Great Miami Purchase” and be used for farming and other community purposes until it was donated to University of Toledo by trustees in 1970. Lima's growth began slowly but steadily over time; it did not gain its current size until 1966 when Interstate 76was completed connecting Toledo with Cleveland through Stark County. That year saw an influx of new residents following completion of Interstate 77 which links both cities directly via Stark County. As a result, much development took place within just a few years including numerous businesses and residences being erected along I-77/Stark County Road 519 between Toledo and Cleveland – this stretch is still commonly referred to today as "the Strip". As more people moved into Lima over time, so too did their needs for schools and infrastructure - resulting in the construction of both Northwest High School (now US 181) on West Market Street near downtown in 1961 and Stiles Middle School (then Knowlton Elementary) adjacent to Old Main Post Office on North Center Street shortly thereafter. These two schools were joined together forming what is now Valley View Middle School – one of only three middle schools statewide that serves students from PreKindergarten through 12th grade! Today, Valley View offers classes from preKindergarten through 8th grade along with high school diploma/certificate programs designed specifically for students living within walking distance or commuting options!
