Lima, Ohio is a small city of just over 10,000 people located in the northwestern corner of the state of Ohio. The population was 7,871 as of the 2010 census. With its location on the edge of an agricultural area and its history as a military center during World War II and the Cold War, Lima has been home to many firearms manufacturers and dealers since before President George Washington arrived here in 1787. The first gun manufacturer in Lima was James Wilkinson’s Armory (now Wilkinson Gunsmithing). It was built on East State Street between 1814 and 1816. Emanuel Smith & Wesson opened its doors in 1865 on South High Street next to what is now Lima Municipal Courthouse. John Browning started manufacturing firearms here in 1892. The oldest continuously operating gun shop in Lima is that of J.B. Ladd & Sons located at 4100 North High Street from 1896 to 1914. In addition to firearm production, Lima also became known for its brewing industry, which continues today with three breweries: Capital Brewery (founded 1888), First National Brewing Company (founded 1912), and Ashtabula Brewing Company (founded 1916). In 1911, two years after prohibition ended in America, Amalgamated Brewing Company merged with Capital Brewery; this led to the first brewery-owned club soda dispenser in America! These days there are only two breweries left active: Ashtabula Brewing Company and Capital Brewery; all other businesses have either closed or moved away since then. Lima also remains home to one of America’s most famous gun shows - SHOT Show USA - which began being held here in 1968 under then-Mayor Frank Zappa’s patronage as an event honoring both American arms collectors who had donated their collections to help support local journalism programs nationwide, as well as leading firearms manufacturers exhibiting their latest products for consumers around the world to inspect firsthand!

The Ohio Legislature passed a bill in 2018 that became effective in 2019 increasing the number of gun-free zones in Lima. These zones are areas where it is illegal to possess any firearms, whether handguns or rifles.
Lima, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 10,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton metropolitan area. Lima is bordered by Gary to the north, Westlake to the east, and Lake Erie to the south. The name "Lima" comes from the Pequot Indian word "liwa," meaning place for buffalo robes or goods given in return for trade goods from other villages near by. The first settler in what is now Lima Township was James Aiken who arrived in 1814 with his family and founded a log cabin on what is now Hastings Road near what is now State Route 122. In 1830 Aiken's grandson John Cockerill purchased land along present day State Route 422 betweenpresent day US 131 and US 22 and built a house which still stands today as part of Lima's downtown core. In 1836 Nicholas Latimer bought 4 acres (1 ha) of land on what became Summit Avenue between Hastings Road and Union Street from James Cockerill for $600 dollars cash which he used as his farmstead until he sold it in 1850 to Elijah Sessions Forney who renamed it Clintonshire following his home state of New York City. Forney operated a gristmill on this property until 1857 when he sold it to Jno Ligonier for $1,500 cash which he donated to Medina University College where it remains today as one of its main buildings housing classrooms, laboratories, research labs and more than 100 student apartments across six floors that accommodate up to 400 students at any given time including extended overnight stays during academic term periods when necessary due special events such as football games or commencement ceremonies conducting business meetings or conventions being held at college while also accommodating visiting dignitaries attending college functions such as President Dwight D Eisenhower who made an address there after having been invited by then-president Harry Truman during a visit to Toledo – just three years earlier! In 1899 leased 3/2 acre (0·9ha) adjacent lot No 2 on Summit Avenue between Union Street and Hastings Road from Wm Hite for $75 per month until 1902 when Wm Hite conveyed all title deeds associated with that parcel including 0·5 acre (0·02ha) corner lot adjoining this same property on Summit Avenue which became known later simply as “Hite” lot because its owner – Mr Enos Hite – transferred ownership thereof successfully over several generations! In 1905 Daniel Sheaffer moved into Section 8A of Township Trust 1 block 5 according to vote taken February 15th 1905 under Section 12(a)(2) Charter Revision Act dated June 17th 1906 due consideration given thereto relative thereto relative an offer received therefor hereafter set forth hereinabove entitled “Sheaffer Addition” proposed by Sidney Sheaffer with section number appended hereto consisting largely of ground laid out within lots 6 & 7 Blocks 2nd Row SouthEast Corner NorthWest Corner original plat boundaries being altered nearly doubling size but not including lot 8 Block 1st Row Southeast Corner Southwest Corner newest plat boundaries being almost tripled size lots 6 & 7 remaining unaltered except Lots 8 & 9 where dimensions have been increased about 50% contributing towards total surface area; total length boundary lines running thence NNW latitude line 40 degrees 47 minutes longitude ENE longitude are revised 30 degrees eastwardly starting at point above said new Longitude Meridian thence NNW latitude line 25 degrees 51 minutes longitude Westerly direction running parallel To route traveled By Adams Express Company wagon road through town prior To said Reelection taking place On May 14th 1907 two days previously At large meeting convened hereinabove Held Friday Evening last preceding date Resolved That Part containing Lots Nos 6 & 7 be included within tho limits aforesaid upon Payment thereof By amount agreed upon Between parties Thereupon closed the Meeting room very much Applause was heard throughout Community many thanks were offered Mr Sidney Sheaffer Said Leader Proposed Addition Said Name Now appearing Hereinafter SIDNEY SHEAFER So Called

Polk appointed it as the capital of Ohio in 1837 after his victory over Mexico in the Mexican–American War. Lima became an important commercial center due to its location adjacent to two major rivers and its access to transportation via road, railroads, and canals. In 1870, when Toledo edged out Lima for supremacy as Ohio's largest city, both communities amalgamated into one municipality under Mayor John Pemberton (D-Lucas). In 1868–69 there were riots that followed what had been called a "race riot" caused by whitesboro residents protesting government attempts to integrate black workers into local businesses; this led to increased police presence throughout town and helped make Lima one of America's most crime-free cities for nearly 50 years until violence erupted again following racial tension between white supremacists and Latinos beginning in 1968 known as La Raza riots or Red Scare
Lima, Ohio was founded by the Potawatomi tribe in 1795. The city was named after the Inca Emperor Pachacuti and is located on the Scioto River. Lima was a major shipping and trade center during its early years. The city's first post office opened in 1805. In 1830, Lima became the capital of what is now Northwest Ohio. In 1836, Lima became an independent state and later merged with other states to form the United States of America.
