As per municipal ordinance adopted that year, all citizens within MIL were required to vote for one Mayor and One Councilmember; both positions were filled by members of MIL's City Council. The current Mayor is Ron Hebert and the current Councilmembers are Karen Kappelman (2nd District), Danica Kirka (3rd District), Mary Jo Ziegler (4th District), Jeff Armstrong (5th District) and John Brady (6th District).

Lebanon, Ohio is a small town in the Sandusky County area of the United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown–Georgetown, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Lebanon was George Wilkinson in 1814. He and his family homesteaded on land that now includes parts of Lebanon Township and Waterloo Township. A post office called Lebanon was established in 1827, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1851. The first school in Lebanon was built on a lot near present-day Springboro Road and High Street by James Fenton in1838. In 1847, Lebanon became a village when it merged with Waterloo Township under direction of Pennsylvania Gov. Andrew Johnson Sr.. On July 15, 1870, during the American Civil War, General Ulysses S Grant decided to cross the Delaware River into Pennsylvania to attack General Lee’s army at Gettysburg instead of march through Maryland as planned because he believed that an open battle would lead to Union victory over Confederate forces who were pressing hard for peace negotiations . On September 3rd General Grant ordered all military units east of Baltimore Harbor except for his own headquarters unit which crossed into Maryland en route to Gettysburg . As night fell behind him his units reached Chambersburg after traveling for four days non stop . At 4 a m on September 4th they received word fromGeneral Robert E. Lee that he had withdrawn from Gettysburg after achieving very little progress against Admiral Winfield Scott’s armies . This granted Union control over most of northern Virginia including Philadelphia which meant that Confederate Genl John Buford could not mounting any serious resistance beyond Northern Virginia without being detected by Union forces In late October 1865 General Grant found himself with only 10 divisions left following Appomattox Court House whereLee had surrendered his army to President Abraham Lincoln Philadelphia was still under Confederate control so he ordered Field Marshal Joseph Hooker to move against Hancock’s retreating troops but before doing so he sent orders back to General Grant ordering him not pursue Richmond or Yorktown if those objectives were accomplished before dark on November 9th which they were not When night fell Hooker discovered what had happened and ordered his troops return home while Glover's brigade advanced northeast towards Petersburg
