Kettering Rifle Scopes was a company that made and marketed riflescopes. The company was founded in 1876 by George Kettering, who manufactured and sold his own rifle scopes. The first riflescope models were designed by Kettering himself and featured a four-inch (100 mm) tube with an 8x50mm objective lens. Other models were produced with 6x42mm objectives or 4x37mm eyepieces. In the early years of the company'sexistence, kettering Scope sales topped $1 million annually.
Kettering, Ohio is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio that was founded in 1814 by George Washington and his family. The population was 41,577 at the 2010 census. Kettering is the county seat of Geauga County. It is also the home of University of Akron and Cleveland State University. The first settler in what would become Kettering Township was John Pickering who arrived in 1814. He built a cabin on high ground near present day US-4 and US-1305 which became known as Pickering's Hill. Other early settlers included Samuel Adams, Jabez Thornton, James Fenton and others from Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania respectively. Pickering's Cabin still stands today on Pickering's Hill just east of current day US-4/US-1305 intersection (the road designation changed after the incorporated village of Kettering established itself). According to tradition, when George Washington moved into Mount Vernon following his inauguration as President in 1789, he took with him some food items from Pickering's Cabin including two horses and four hoes that were used to plant corn on the new farmsteads he had purchased north of Mount Vernon. George Washington eventually raised crops at Mount Vernon for himself and his families until 1800 when he decided to move back south again to Virginia where he bought land grants totaling over 100 acres (40 hectares) around Petersburg Creek which flowed through present day Kettering township boundaries then beyond it into Geauga County . In 1800 Washington erected a monumental stone gateway at busy intersections now called Elmwood Avenue/State Route 153 (now I-71) & SR 801 within sight of original Indian trail crossing over Battlefield Creek – this gate remains visible today alongBUS 924 from downtown Cincinnati past Whitehall Junction ontoSR 801 before turning southeastward across SR 801 just inside present day kettering limits / just before US 4 made its final appearance beyond its eastern border / extending all the way south past Old Fort Myers Beach Rd., now known as Beach Road / until reaching modern day Dayton city limits

Kettering is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the southern edge of the Dayton metropolitan area. The population was 21,859 at the 2010 census. Kettering is one of four towns in Greater Dayton that are part of the Dayton-Middletown-area Combined Statistical Area (CSA). The others are Mason City, Wright Park, and Hillsboro. Kettering is also home to Kettering Airport. The first permanent settler in what would become Kettering was James Dixon who arrived in 1796 with his family from Virginia. Dixon was a surveyor for the Ohio Company and built a house on present day Elm Street about 1812 or 1813. He named it "Dixon's Grove". In 1816, George Washington Lewis came to America and took up land south ofpresent day Kettering on what became known as "Lewis' corner". Lewis homesteaded there on October 30th, 1816 which was also when he changed the name from "Dixon's Grove" to "Kettering". Lewis' corner still stands today as does part of his original farmhouse which can be seen from Elm Street just east of Main Street. In 1840, Nathan Bedford Forrest bought land around present day Mason City and established an agricultural colony called Forrest Plantation near present day Hillsboro Beach Road/Route 742 (later US 131) where he started growing corn and other crops before moving cattle into this region in 1865. These early pioneers were followed by other farmers including James Worthy who settled at present day Kirtland Avenue/Route 20 between 1940-1941; John Fenton who platted what became downtown Dayton in 1911; Vernon Crain who developed much of east side Dayton between 1917-1920; Jerald Hildebrandt who platted east side Dayton between 1920-1922; Harry Hoehn whose development included parts of south side Dayton between 1923-1927; Leonidas Polk Jr./Alton Polk Sr./Lenora Hardeman whose development included most parts northside Cincinnati prior to their merger with Cleveland company American Carriers Corporation (Astra) later that year making them one corporate entity for all southeast Ohio business men . Finally Bud Daley began developing what would become Kettering Township along with lots adjacent thereto about 1930s when hydropower potential commenced flowing through veins under Snelling County hills northeastward from Springfield Township northwestward from Columbiana Township across Scioto River valley into lower Greenfield Township thence southwestward via Mill Creek Valley into current Kettered Township after approval by county commissioners August 24th 1935 over objections by township trustees November 3rd 1935 against sale thereof to Developers Association organized December 15th 1936 without capital stock initial investment totaling $10 per share paid by developer Jacob Auerbach
Kettering was founded in 1795 by John Kettering and his wife, Susannah. The town was named after a natural gas find near the townsite. The area now known as Kettering was first inhabited by the Hurons. In 1800, the village of Kettering became part of the Township of Warren. In 1824, the Township of Warren merged with the Village of Kettering to form a new township,Warren County. On July 1, 1868, Warren County was divided into two parts and kettering became one half of that split.
