Kent, Ohio is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Cincinnati–Marion metropolitan area and is the only municipality in that area with a population over 10,000 residents. The village of Kent was established in 1814 by James Caldwell and others as a post office on the Scioto River west of modern-day Cincinnati. The first settler to arrive in what is now Kent was John Ketchum in 1826. In 1840, David Dudley built a log cabin on the west bank of the Scioto River near today's downtown Akron, becoming one of early settlers there. From this location he began to trade goods with Native Americans along what would become known as "the Great Miami Trail." In 1851, when Dayton became a city, it annexed parts of Scioto County including Kent and located its municipal courthouse at Miamisburg (now Xenia). In 1860 Samuel Morse founded The Toledo Blade newspaper here after moving from New York City where he had been working for The New York Times Syndicate. That same year also saw construction begin on what would be called "the Second Kent Bridge", later renamed "The George Washington Bridge". With increased industrialization came an increase in traffic on Route 83 which led to widened shoulders and more dangerous curves around downtown Akron; this caused problems for both drivers and pedestrians who frequently got hit by cars crossing at high speed or getting lost trying to avoid them. A committee formed to study possible solutions recommended widening I-77 east from University Circle into downtown Akron instead which would have eliminated much of the problem but did not come about until years later when Interstate 70 was completed bypassing downtown Akron completely while still running through Kent Village/Miamisburg Township! In 1938 local businessman Clifford Ladd donated land adjacent to his home at 7141 Euclid Avenue for what would become Oneonta Park – then one of America's largest open-air amusement parks featuring 1,500 acres (6 km²)of parkland covering three sides of Euclid Avenue between Bellefontaine Road and Broadway Boulevard – hosting such attractions as Six Flags Over Ohio (later Cedar Point), Aquamarine Beach Resort & Marina, dual baseball/softball diamonds as well as picnicking pavilions for up to 4,000 people each season during summer months; it remains one of America's most popular tourist destinations today even though it has been closed operation since 2001 due primarily to budget shortfalls combined with other park closures throughout southern Ontario! Kent's economy has relied heavily upon agriculture since its founding but has seen recent growth brought about by several new businesses such as Petco Park just southwest of town off I-77 which opened in 2002 adjacent to Zoobic Earth Science Center; auto dealership Saturn Automotive Plaza located east off I-77 just north Of Old Mill Road opposite US 40 exit will close its doors permanently this winter due mostly to poor sales performance over many years) pet food store Hannan’s Grocery Corp., bed&breakfast Inn On Main Kirkwood Rd., formerly MidwayUSA Shopping mall closed down last fall following failure within their business model; locally owned Cuyahoga County Justice Center located on Main Street across from Holy Name Parish Church features entertainment functions daily from various professional artists(s) performing live onstage nightly during busy seasons

In 1911, Patent No. 1,858,521 was filed by Alfred Crouch entitled “A Pistol Flashlight with an adjustable lens” which helped improve the accuracy of gun lights. This Gun Light had four adjustments: height, focus, brightness and turning angle. It continued to be used until around 1951. In 1932, Charles Hennesy submitted a design for a new handgun light that would use ultraviolet radiation rather than visible light like earlier models. He called this Gun Lamp and it continued to be used until around 1952. In 1935, Albert Einstein submitted his theory of relativity which led to the development of Special effects photography which madegunlights more accurateandeffectivethaneverbefore! In 1939, John Boyd developed what is now known as an electronic beamgun which allowedgunsightstobeadjusted electronically insteadofbyhand! These advances were responsible for makinggunlightsmuchmoreusefulandaccessiblethan ever before!

Kent, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, founded in 1803 by George Brown and others as a post office on the Scioto River. It was named for Kent County, England. The population was 7,919 at the 2010 census. The first settler in what is now Kent was George Brown, who arrived in 1803 from England. He built a cabin on the Scioto River and named it "Kent." In 1805 he started a mercantile business with his brother-in-law Ebenezer Dodge and their father-in-law John Hennepin. The brothers grew this business until it became one of the largest in the area; they also sold goods to Indians and made slaves.) In 1811 they married Eliza Morse and moved to what is now Toledo, Michigan Territory (now Lucas County). They had two children: William (born 1812) and Maria (born 1815). In 1830 Kent voters elected James Waddell as their first mayor. Waddell served until 1840 when he resigned after charges were brought against him for using city funds to finance his personal expenses while he was Mayor. In 1840–1841 Adam Lyon served as Mayor Pro Tem with Waddell serving as Mayor from 1840 to1841; Lyon's term ended when Waddell re-elected himself without opposition in November 1840.[1] During this time period active transportation links were established between Cleveland, Akron, Cuyahoga Falls/ beans & corn country downriver through new roads created by General Richard Montgomery during the American Civil War including present day I-75 between Akron and Youngstown – these roads are also known as "the Great Lakes Highway". On October 20th 1861 ore deposits were discovered near present day Rocksville along I-75 just north of Dayton Airport[2]), which led to development of that area into an important mining center during the late 19th century; today Rocksville is home to several large companies including Unocal Corporation[3]. On December 12th 1850 Greenup Township formed from parts of Stark Township,[4] Lemont Township on January 1st 1860,[5] Delaware Township on February 15th 1860,[6][7] Ottawa Township on March 17th 1860,[8][9][10], Newark Township on April 9th 1860,[11], Uniontown Borough on May 10th 1860[12], West Unionburg Borough on June 10th 1860[]13), Allentown Borough[14] – all but Newark township became part of Medina County effective July 1st 1870 due to population growth within Medina County while Newark township continued within Kent county until its annexation into Medina County effective October 16, 1907
