By 1830, it had reached an population of 1,000 people and prospered as an agricultural center due to its location near two major rivers and two important feeder canals. However, by 1860, Kent's population had fallen to 350 people because of manufacturing relocations to other towns in that area. However, during the late 1800s and into the 1900s there were dramatic changes taking place in Kent due to industrialization throughout northeast Ohio. This led to new businesses opening up in town such as carpenters (1901), grocery stores (1910), hardware stores (1914), cheese factories (1920), slaughterhouses (1925) and others until all but one business closed by 1930. The automobiles that started arriving in Akron soon after World War I caused a big change for Kent as well; several local farmers became wealthy through selling cars door-to-door thanks to their connections with automobile dealerships across central Ohio. This prosperity ended around 1945 when American Motors shut down its factory east of downtown Akron following World War II - leaving many jobs open for displaced workers from other nearby factories who did not have those same opportunities or skillset which led to social unrest among young men graduating from high school during this time period especially if they could not find jobs after graduation like their peers back home where most people grew up working their families farms or factories until they got married or went off to college themselves like their parents had done before them starting families themselves some times later once these children became adults they would know all about what happened during World War II since their parents had been active members of society during that time period also known as The Great Depression which followed WWI

Kent, Ohio is a city in the United States. The population was 41,531 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous municipality in Ashland County and one of the nine cities in Ashland County. The City of Kent was founded on May 10, 1853 by John J. Griggs and Wm H. Payne as part of a land grant from President James K. Polk to George Prentice and other settlers in that area. The first post office for Kent opened on July 2, 1854, and was called Griggsboro; it was moved to its current location on North Main Street on December 12, 1887. The original town plat included three blocks of land east of Center Road and west of South Harrison Avenue; this part of town is now known as downtown Kent-Wrightville. On October 14, 1860, the village of Georgetown was organized withinKent while still under federal jurisdiction because Washington Township would not give up its claim to Fort Wayne (the old name for present-day Indianapolis) until November 1st following an election where all residents but Georgetown voted against it without any representation from Washington Township which had about 60% vote turnout according to US Gazetteer (1870). Three years later on August 9th 1862, the Indiana Territorial Legislature created a new government forAshland County with David Ladd as county recorder and commissioners elected at large rather than through township elections as had been done before with only men chosen from among their respective townships or villages . In 1865 when Lafayette became unincorporated due to lack of water available through wells/creek there ensued much discussion over annexing Lafayette but no annexation occurred due largely to partisan politics by then Ulysses S Grant who served as governor during that time period In 1870 when Washtenaw Township ceded Fort Wayne claims back after voting against creating Georgetown Village & withdrawing from Indian Territory Govt., soWashington Township ceased having any say ingovernment affairs &becameashlandcountytoworkersgovt
