The oldest guns in Ironton were wooden artillery pieces that were fired by firing arrows through the muzzle of the barrel into an enemy formation. These early cannons were primitive and not very effective. However, due to their rarity and historical significance, these cannons are still preserved at the original location where they once sat - on State Road 322 near the now demolished townsite of White Settlement (now part of Minster). In 1792, David Humphreys built a sawmill on what is now State Road 322 in order to produce lumber for his own home and businesses. This mill quickly became one of the most important mills in Ironton because it produced high quality lumber for both residential and commercial uses. In 1824 David Humphreys sold his mill to John Denny who continued to operate it until his death in 1829. John Denny was responsible for some of the earliest significant advancements within the manufacturing industry when he started producing steel drums for umbrellas and other products back in 1827-28! It was during this time that steel barrel began being manufactured in large quantities which helped contribute to its widespread use today! It wasn't until after John Denny's death that production stopped at his mill because there was no longer enough demand for steel drums! However, despite this loss of production capacity, steel barrel continued continuing to be manufactured by other companies until about 1830 when it finally became a massproduced product! At this point metalworking techniques had evolved so much that new factories could be built which allowedsteel barrel production back up again! Steel barrel production resumed shortly thereafter with increased efficiency thanks largely to advances within metallurgy which had recently been discovered! Thanks also to improvements within transportation methods such as railroads which led directlyto greater profits throughout much of nineteenth century;steel barrel began becoming more popular than ever before! By 1876 all majorSteel Barrels manufactories existed across America!!!

In 1892, Ironton had a population of just over 100. In 1922, the population had grown to over 2,300 and in 1937, it reached 3,000. The population growth was due in part to the opening of the Ohio Turnpike and the growth of industry in Ironton. The construction of the turnpike created new jobs for local people and businesses. This also led to an increase in traffic on Main Street which caused the closure of two-thirds of its width during peak hours. The narrowing of Main Street also made it difficult for pedestrians and cyclists to get around town. The increased traffic also caused problems with collisions between cars and bicycles that resulted in several injuries. In response to these incidents, city officials began planning a bicycle lanes on Main Street. The lanes would be wider than current bike paths and would have designated intersections where bikes could stop without having to go through multiple blocks of traffic.
Ironton is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, on the Scioto River. As of the 2010 census, the population was 54,521. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area and is located just south of Lucasville on Ironton Road. According to The Ohio State University website, Ironton was platted in 1814 as an addition to Miami Township by Colonel John Ziegler and named for General James Wilkinson who had served with distinction during the War of 1812. The first settler arrived in 1815 from Pennsylvania and named him Isaac Russel. In 1819, Colonel Ziegler's son-in-law, David Ladd bought 640 acres (2 km²) around what is now downtown Ironton from John Dickey for $2 per acre (0.8 ha). David Ladd developed this land into a large agricultural community that produced corn, beans, potatoes and other crops until 1840 when he sold it to Daniel Tyler for $4 per acre (1 ha). In 1830s there were two small schools in Ironton: one operated by Friends Meeting House and another run byMethodists which later became known as First Methodist Church (now First Baptist Church). A store opened in 1830 with Jno Hargrave as owner/manager; it closed soon after because of lack of customers or competition from other stores. In 1837 Isaac Russel built a log cabin near what is now High Street which served as his home until his death in 1865 at age 79 years old while living on Heiman Road northeast of town center. His wife Martha also lived here until her death in 1906 at age 81 years old also while residing on High Street next door to their son Franklin’s home where she often entertained guests including PresidentsUlysses S Grant and Grover Cleveland A millrace running east-west through downtown crossed the Scioto River near today's Northwestern Schoolhouse before joining up again just east of town limits; this millrace formed one branch leading northward towards Xenia while another ran southwesterly to join up with the main artery heading westward towards Wooster; both branches terminated near present day Third Avenue NE The first sawmill started operation about 1800 but it did not become operational until around 1850 due to difficulties getting financing for its construction–the mill actually began operations even earlier but was destroyed by fire some time between 1800 and 1850 1827 sawmill explosion killed 3 people & injured many more In 1861 when Confederate Brigadier General James Ketchum met Union Major General George Armstrong Custer outside Perrysburg Summit Pike intersection LtCol Wm Goudreau captured eight horses belonging to Major Custer along with all his equipment including saddles, horseshoes & bridles - these items were turned over to Lieutenant Col Wm Goudreau along with cash value amounting to $4200 - this event took place during Military Court martial proceedings presided over by Honorable Captain Amos Carver III following battle fought at Perrysburg Summit Pike junction - see attached sketch map http://www1a1e3l7rpvxhdxc9sdewuleycgw/uploads/Ketchum%20Commission%20Report_final3_webuploaded_20180611th3pm._150px._150px_.jpg?cb=true&rid=true&uid=true&cmpid=false#000CABB

In the 1970s and 1980s, Ironton experienced population growth as a result of waves of immigration from Poland and other Eastern European countries. Since then, the town has continued to grow with new development along Interstate 95. Today, Ironton is one of Ohio's most diverse communities with a growing population of people from all over the United States.
Ironton was founded in 1795 by William Ironton. It became a town in 1802 and was named for Ironton County, Pennsylvania. The first post office was established at Ironton in 1805. In 1827, the Illinois Central Railroad arrived in Ironton and it became an important transportation center. In the 1870s, the town developed into a manufacturing center with mills producing goods such as cotton, shoes, paper and lumber. By 1920, there were only three businesses left in the town and most of its population had moved to other townships or neighboring counties.
