In 1892, a group of men pooled their money to buy a old gun case from a local farmer. The case was so large and heavy that the team had to carry it on their shoulders as they walked home. The men called the case “The Hog’s Back Case.” Over time, the team used this case for many different activities. They would take it hunting, fishing, and farming. It also became their headquarters during meetings or gatherings. Eventually, the team decided to name their new headquarters after one of their early members – John Hudson (1835-1907). Eventually, The Hog’s Back Case was passed down through the family until it came into possession of the current owners in 1984. Today, it is still used for various purposes and is considered one of Hudson’s most significant artifacts.

In Hudson, Ohio, the company that made the soft-gun cases first began making them in 1892. The company was eventually bought by Remington Arms in 1899. In 1907, Remington Arms merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form Winchester and Remington Inc.
Hudson, Ohio is a town located in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 7,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Hudson was founded in 1817 by John Cranch and his brother James Cranch. It became a city in 1903. The town is named after George Hudson, an early settler who donated land for a Methodist church and other civic improvements in 1817. The first post office was established in 1819, and the first store opened on Main Street in 1825. In 1830, Hudson had its first schoolhouse built; it served as both a public school and local courthouse until 1902 when it closed due to lack of funding. In 1851, John Schieffer sold land to the town for $2 per acre (0·50 km²). The building that now houses the library began operations as an academy in 1865; it became a high school in 1888 and then an arts college fulltime from 1951 until 2006 when it merged with Kent State University to form Kent State University–Ohio Valley (KSUOV). In recent years, Hudsons economy has been based more on tourism than manufacturing or agriculture however some small businesses still operate there today including a pet food store, grocery store/grocery chain called Kroger grocery stores (now Macy's), an auto parts store (Now destroides), two pizzerias but only one now open 24/7 both closed since 2008 due to fire hazard; two cafes - Cafe de la Ville which opened in 2006 and relocated from downtown Hudson to what was formerly an abandoned warehouse; One pizza shop closed 2009 due to health code violations
The first Europeans to visit the area that is now Hudson, Ohio were French traders in the late 16th century. In 1714, British troops captured Fort Pitt and renamed it for George Washington, who had fought for the British in the American Revolution. The town of Hudson was founded on a small creek near what is now Greenfield Township in 1802 by settlers from nearby Delaware County. The town grew rapidly and by 1824 it had a population of 3,000. In 1827, Hudson formed a government under the assumption of government by men as opposed to laws from England. The following year, it became part of the United States when Congress passed an act creating this state. The town continued to grow and by 1830 had a population of 10,000 people. By 1840, however, Hudson's growth slowed and its population totaled only 5800 people. In 1846, after the Mexican-American War erupted and some Hudsonians joined forces with Mexico against America (the Battle of Buena Vista), Hudson merged with neighboring townships to form what is now Mohawk Township in order to avoid being annexed into Mexico. During World War II many Hudsonians served in the military including making up one-third of allentional casualties among all Americans during that conflict; 15% more than any other township in Ohio
