Hudson, Ohio is a small town in the heart of the United States. The population was 5,815 at the 2010 census and it is located in Cuyahoga County. The name Hudson comes from John Hudson, an Englishman who settled in what is now Hudson County in 1798. The Dutch also settled here early on and called the area "Hudson's Point". The first Europeans to visit what is now Hudson County were French traders and missionaries travelling through this region during the 17th century. In 1798, John Hudson arrived here with his wife and three children after spending several years exploring Canada. He founded a trading post on the mouth of the Cuyahoga River nearpresent-day Cleveland. In 1802, General James Wilkinson built Fort Dearborn on land that he purchased from the French for $10,000. This fort served as a military post until 1807 when it was abandoned due to its location along an enemy border. It was later used as a storage facility for goods brought overland by wagon trains heading westward from eastern Michigan into Illinois Territory. On July 4, 1814, General Harrison's army invaded Canada and Occupied Yorktown Heights overlooking Toronto where he surrendered to British troops under Lieutenant Governor Sir George Prevost following weeks of fighting which ended with his death at Yorktown Heights on October 19th of that year. Aftermath of war saw many settlers flee across the US/Canada border as war spread throughout North America including those living in what is nowCleveland - all before American independence was declared two years later on November 8th of 1792! It wasn't until 1830 when Ohio became one of thirteen states within newly formed United States when farmers struggling to overcome difficult economic conditions began moving into this area seeking stability and opportunity during an era characterized by turmoil & upheaval! The city of Hudson is located on the southeast side of Hudson County at 44°25′N 82°02′W / 44.3667°N 82.16667°W / 44; 25; -82; 02。 The population of Hudson was 70,463 at the 2000 census. The city is composed of five wards: Anacleto-Fulton (east side), Barry (west side), Cedar-Riverside (southwest side), East Side (northwest side), and Harrisonburg-Logan ( northwest side). The mayor is Vincent J. Donohue with a term that runs through 2020
The first European settlement in what is now Hudson, Ohio was made by the Dutch in 1634. The area was part of the French colony of Acadia and was sold to the British in 1763 following the Seven Years' War. The land that would become Hudson was first surveyed by George Washington in 1785 and it became a part of Ohio when it was ceded to the United States in 1803.
