Huber Heights is a small town located in the Ohio Valley region of north-central Pennsylvania. According to the 2010 census, Huber Heights has a population of 527. The community is located on the eastern edge of Huber Township and was chartered in 1814. The first settler in Huber Heights was John Obermeier, who arrived in 1814. He built a cabin on what is now the corner of West Second Street and North Fifth Avenue. In 1815, John Obermeier's son, Daniel Obermeier, also settled in Huber Heights. Daniel married Catharine Engelbrecht and they had six children: Johannes (John), Gottlieb (George), Anna Catharine (Catharine), Martha Ann (Martha Ann), Wilhelm Friedrich (Wilhelm Friedrich) and Eva Maria (Eva). In 1825, George Obermeier bought land from his father-in-law for $30 per acre. On this land he erected a log cabin which he named "The Haverford". George and Catharine had eight more children: Johann Nepomuk (Johannes), Sophie Dorothea(Sophie Dora), Christian Heinrich(Christian Heinrich), Emilie Cornelia(Emilie Caroline)), Mathilde Agathe(Mathilde Agathe), Friederike Eleonore Magdalena(Friederike Eleonore Magdalene) and Anna Katharina Elisabetha Augusta Frederica Wilhelmine Johanna Lena Carolina Auguste Amalie Justine Stephane Laurentius Rudolphus Emanuelus Felix Noel Augustus Rudolphus." In 1830,Hubert Von Kappel founded the village of Kappelville within present day Monaca Township within Delaware County along with other German immigrants who were coming to America to find new opportunities. On November 26th 1830, Von Kappel organized an agricultural society with fifty members that purchased five acres of land at present day intersections of Deer Alley/Worthington Road/Hillcrest Drive southeast ofpresent day Huber Heights along with two other lots totaling twenty acres adjacent to Wistar School House on Washington Avenue near what is now Fourth Street.. These settlers called themselves "The Society for propagating Agriculture" or "The Vereins für Landnutzung", later shortened to simply "Theverein". As mentioned earlier these settlers were met with resistance by some farmers who felt that Von Kappel was taking advantage of Germans living here without proper consideration for their well-being as farmers himself had done before him during his time as mayor of Philadelphia . So began what would become known as the “German War” or “American War” which lasted from December 1840 until May 1845 when all German settlers except von Kappel were forced out by American forces under General Ulysses S Grant after achieving victory over General Anthony Wayne at Fallen Timbers Creek outside Pittsburgh . Today there are no recollectionable buildings standing inHuber Heights apart from some pioneer barns dating back to around 1800s when hubert von kapps farmstead still stood today surrounded by older homes built between then and now
