Huber Heights is a village in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. The Village of Huber Heights was organized on November 5, 1892 from sections of the towns of Hilliard and Mayfield. On March 21, 1893 the boundaries were changed to include what is now the city of Cleveland. Huber Heights was incorporated as a village on April 15, 1896 from parts of Mayfield and Hilliard. The first town meeting was held on September 10 that year with Haverhill Township trustees being present as well. The first mayor was John Worthy and treasurer was James L. Browning. On October 2, 1898, Huber Heights voted to annexation by the city of Cleveland which took effect on November 3rd. At its incorporation this village had a population of 1,752 people making it one of the smallest villages in Cleveland at that time when it joined Cleveland proper through annexation into the larger city limits without any other vote or process other than simply being listed as an annexed community on official government documents thereafter! At its peak in 1906-1907 Huber Heights had 6 businesses with over 100 residents working in them! In 2000-2001 there were only 2 businesses left operating within Huber Heights Village limits- both closed due to economic conditions; however both have since reopened and continue to serve as anchors for their respective communities within Huber Heights today! TodayHubertstown Elementary School (grades PK-8) serves students from grades PreKindergarten through 12th grade while Holy Name Catholic High School (grades 9-12) serves students from grades 11th through 12th grade along with some adult program classes such as culinary arts and engineering classes etc... There are also several summer camps/summer programs offered throughout the school year including baseball camp (for 4th thru 8th graders), basketball camp (9th thru 11th graders), water polo camp (12th thru 14th graders), swim team camp (15ths & 16ths years old), karate camp(17yrs old & younger) and more!
In 1814, the town of Huber Heights was named in honor of Levi Huber, an explorer and surveyor. The town began to grow rapidly after it was surveyed by John C. Frick in 1824. In 1830, the Ohio General Assembly voted to incorporate the town. The first store opened in 1831 and the population grew rapidly from 100 residents in 1830 to 200 residents by 1840. By 1850, there were 300 residents and the first school opened in 1851. The community prospered until a destructive fire destroyed much of the community on May 20, 1854.
