Huber Heights is a small community in central Ohio, located about 15 miles east of Cleveland. The population was 5,512 at the 2010 census. Huber Heights is named after John Jacob Huber, who donated land for the community and helped to develop it. The first residents of Huber Heights were German settlers from Steuben County. In 1836, some of these Germans moved to what is now Guernsey Township, Ohio and started a chicken farm. In 1845, Anthony Perrine bought property in what is now Huber Heights and developed it as a cattle ranch. He also built a mill on his property which operated until 1954. In 1892, Ebenezer Cook purchased land in what is now Huber Heights from Anthony Perrine. Cook became the first black resident ofHubertown when he moved there from Cleveland. He founded the Ebenezer Cook Evangelical Lutheran Church inHubertown in 1893 and served as its first pastor until his death in 1948. In 1957, John Fenton purchased land adjacent to his cattle ranch for use as an agricultural township by himself and others involved with him in development of that area into an industrial park known today as Ironton Township., Nearby Lorain Village also began developing shortly thereafter around this time including several factories established by Fenton's associates including Rubbermaid (now Rubbermaid) and Alliant Chemical Corporation (now Arkema). Ironton Township eventually became part of Cuyahoga Falls Metropolitan School District during the late 1960s when that district was created from parts of three other municipalities - Beachwood-Warren-Hudson Valley; Beachwood-Fulton Hills; and Brookville-Niles Center - within Cuyahoga Falls County limits following the federal government's abolishment of township governments statewide on May 1st, 1964 effective with the passage of The Local Government Reform Act Of 1965 (). It should be noted that while some portions - such as Beachwood-Warren-Hudson Valley - did remain within Cuyahoga Falls County boundaries long after their municipal status had been terminated or changed under state law (e.g., Beachwood annexed by Niles Center circa 1984), most residential areas within Cuyahoga Falls Metro School District ultimately reverted back to their former municipality boundaries upon reestablishment thereof pursuant to section 9OfTheLocalGovernmentRedefinitionActOf2000 . Precisely why certain industrial parks ended up inside or outside Cuyahoga FallsMetroSchoolDistrict has yet to be fully resolved ..
