Gun sights history in Huber Heights, Ohio began in 1892 when a group of entrepreneurs, led by John A. Huber, founded the Huber sight company. The company manufactured and sold sights for shotguns and rifles. In 1922, the Huber sight company was merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form Winchester-Huber Corporation. William H. Weaver became president of Winchester-Huber Corporation in 1926 and served until his death in 1954. During Weaver's presidency, the company developed new rifle sights, including the Weaver Hale scope system which remains popular today. The first handguns were also designed with gun sights in mind and were chambered for .22 caliber rimfire cartridges such as the Smith & Wesson Model 6 revolver. Gun sights began to be developed for pistols around 1875 when American Matthew Bowers patented a pistol grip that allowed the user to "hold" the pistol with one hand while sighting it with another hand using a compass or other landmarks as reference points. This innovation allowed shooters without any experience withguns to achieve accurate shots at long range without having to take their time learning how to use them properly. Higgins and continued meeting there until 1941 when they moved to their current location at 627 Winton Rd SE in Huber Heights.

In 1814, Huber Heights was a location in Wayne County, Ohio. It was named for German-born Nicholas Huber. The land that now makes up Huber Heights was first surveyed in 1792 by surveyor George Washington Smith. Huber Heights started as a small village of about fifty people. In 1818, the village became one of the twenty-four townships in Wayne County. By 1825, it had a population of two hundred and seventy five residents. The first school in Huber Heights opened on October 15, 1826. That year, also saw the erection of the first courthouse in Wayne County. The building still stands today and is used as an office building. In 1830, the township became a part of the newly formed Athens Township when that town was created from parts of several other villages and townships includinghuber heights. To keep pace with growing agricultural activities within its borders,Hubertown established itself as an industrial center by 1850 with seven mills and eighty nine businesses employing over one thousand workers producing goods such as cloths and shoes for sale throughout central Ohio and beyond to Michigan and Pennsylvania markets. A parade dedicated to Columbus resident John Pemberton who founded Pemberton Paper Millyrs day occurred every year during summertime at least once since its inception until 1954 when it moved to Morehead City because of pollution concerns
