In 1836, business man George W. Dixon developed and manufactured the first revolver in the United States. This weapon was made from a piece ofahonk wood that had been soaked in brine (seawater) and then dried. It worked by using a percussion cap to fire a ball into an atlatl or arrow launcher. In 1840, John Norvell built the first shotgun in this area. This shotgun used an 18" barrel with a stock made from hickory tree trunk. In 1847, two men named Abraham Levy and Jacob Weisenthal built the first handguns in Huber Heights – one called the Westchester and the other called the Diamondback. These handguns were designed to be easy to use and accurate; they featured walnut grips, iron sights, and Damascus steel barrels/stocks. The pistols were very popular among law enforcement officers and can still be seen on display at some local museums today

The annexation allowed for the addition of more than one hundred homes to the city limits which made for a denser population than would have been possible ifHuberthespanned only Medina County residents

Huber Heights is a small town in the southwestern corner of Ohio. It was founded in 1834 by John Huber, and has been inhabited by Germans since the early 1800s. The Huber Heights community first developed around a Lutheran church that was built in 1799. In 1834, John Huber purchased land from the Sauk County Land Board and began to build a home on it. TheHubert House, still standing today, became one of the earliest homes in Huber Heights. In 1881, John Huber passed away and his son Adolf Huber took over ownership of the home and village development. AdolfHubert ran the village until his death in 1951. After Adolfhubert's death, his wife Alma took over as Mayor for 3 years until she passed away in 1957. In 1961, Alfred Lutz became Mayor and served until he died in 1984. After Alfred Lutz' death, Mildred Hirsch became Mayor for 2 terms until her death in 1990. From 1991-2003, Jane Couch served as Mayor before she resigned due to health concerns after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. During Jane Couch's time as mayor, several important changes occurred within the village including the establishment of an agricultural research center (the Ohio Agricultural Research Center), redevelopment of part of downtown into retail space serving local businesses (theader Blvd.), and construction of a new school wing which replaced an existing building on First Avenue which had been used for storage purposes since 1978 when it was dedicated as Stonewall Jackson Middle School). Since 2003, President Barack Obama has resided at 10229 Clairmont Rd., also known as "The White House".

The town of Huber Heights was founded by German immigrants in 1836, and when Mahoning County was formed in 1837 it included Huber Heights as its capital. In 1892, Huber Heights became an independent municipality under the name of Beechwood. In 1915, Beechwood merged with Huber Heights to form the present city. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. As of the census of 2000, there were 353 people, 122 households, and 83 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,532.7 people per square mile (568.9/km²). There were 137 housing units at an average density of 584.8 per square mile (236.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97% White and 2% African American. Hispanic or Latino residents made up 3% of the population
