Huber Heights is a small town in the Mahoning Valley of Ohio. The population was 2,451 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Huber Heights is located on the west side of Youngstown and east of Warren. The first settler in Huber Heights was John Witherspoon who came to what is now Huber Heights in 1814. He named it after his friend David Hutton who had settled in that area two years earlier. Mr. Witherspoon's brother, James Witherspoon, also founded a small settlement nearby which he named for his father-in-law Amos Stowe who had come to America from England some seventeen years earlier. The first home in Huber Heights was built by Amos Stowe and his wife Susannah on a tract of land donated by their father-in-law Alexander Hamilton. In 1825, James Witherspoon sold his holdings to Josiah Cady and his family before moving back to England where he died in 1829 at the age of eighty four years old. Josiah Cady's grandson Solomon Cady bought out Josiah Cady's son Nicholas Cady and moved intoHuber Heights withhis family in 1845 when it became an unincorporated village under the jurisdiction of Youngstown Township authorities.. By 1870, there were only five homes remaining in Huberthesville while over one thousand people lived within its boundaries including six hundred farmers and their families living on various farms within three miles radius as well as several hundred employees working for local businesses such as mills and stores). The population explosion that followed World War I caused many residents to leave Huberthesville for other parts of Ohio or Indiana due to economic concerns including high unemployment rates during wartime; however, mostHuberthessvilleians returned following World War II when job opportunities became available again throughout North America despite difficult times experienced during the war (the GIs brought home jobs which helped revive downtown Youngstown). Huber Heights is a census-designated place in the Athens-Clarke County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. Huber Heights was platted in 1857 by John Huber and his brother Jacob Huber. The first post office opened in 1859 and was called Westville. In 1862, it was renamed Huber Heights after General George Washington Huber. The first school in Huber Heights was a one room schoolhouse built on the corner of Second Street and Ohio Avenue. In 1865, a two story brick school house became the first high school in Huber Heights when it opened under auspices of the local Normal School District #1. On May 8, 1889, when Athens-Clarke County were merged into Warren County (later Columbiana County), Shubert Elementary School became High School #2 for both Adams Township and Eastwood Township residents of Hober Heights who were not constituents of either county until then. In 1907–1908, much to the chagrin of some people living within walking distance of Central High School which had been their only access to advanced academic opportunities since before that time, Architectural Digest featured an article on "The Modern High Schools" with photos from inside Classical High School located between Ebenezer Baptist Church and Iroquois Pharmaceuticals Company on Fifth Avenue just east of I-675 southbound exit ramp near Nationwide Children's Hospital where then Superintendent Charles Ayer officiated as Open House Guest while president Calvin Coolidge attended as Patron
Huber Heights was founded in 1837 by Major George Huber. The place of origin is unknown, but it is most likely that the Huber family originated in Germany. In 1846, Huber Heights became a village and in 1865 it became a town. In 1892,Huber Heights was annexed by the city of Dayton.
