Huber Heights is a small town in Harrison County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,687 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton metropolitan area. The land that would become Huber Heights was first settled by German immigrants in 1814. In 1839, John G. Huber and his brother-in-law James Denny built a log cabin on the edge of what would become Huber Heights. They named their property "Huber Heights" after John G.Hubert and James Denny's father, Johann George Hubert von Hohenlohe-Schönhausen (1784–1859). In 1845, Michael Haughey bought a lot adjacent to John G.Hubert's home for $10 dollars per acre from him and donated it to the township as its first public parkland. This site served as the village square until 1898 when it was dedicated to Huber Heights Township School District #2 which now operates it as an educational institution with over 100 buildings including 9 high school classrooms and 3 adult learning centers From 1909 until 1922, local grocer Wm Ladd ran a grocery store on Main Street in front of the current day Walmart store in Huber Heights before moving to Beavercreek Township where he founded another grocery store there that still stands today called Ladd’s Store Incorporated (now known as Big Lots Inc.) There are several other businesses located along Main Street including two dry goods stores (Jensen’s Hardware & Cleaners and Reeds Furniture), three restaurant/bars Chain Reaction Cafe & Grill, four convenience stores (Big Lots Supermarket #1; Kroger; Safeway), one pawn shop (Pawn Shop of America) and one car dealership (Ford Motor Company). There were also located several residences such as Mrs. Ewing's Homeplace on Euclid Avenue which still stands today and Mr./Ms./Dr.'s Drury House which replaced an earlier home destroyed by fire in 1978 All these businesses closed down during or immediately following World War II due to wartime rationing but reopened again within a few years after hostilities ended . Today there are only two remaining businesses open in what once was an thriving commercial district: The Wawa Fast Food chain with its drive thru window at 66th Street SW between Iiroa Road NW and Fairlane Drive SE corner serving both American/Chinese food items along with sandwiches etc., plus drinks for customers who order through their mobile apps such as Subway sandwich shops throughout Ohio across all five states represented therein; while Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen & Fried Chicken has opened up permanently next door at 1070 SW High School Rd Suite 103 serving chicken fingersdowns French fries supremes etc., complete with playground equipment for children playing outside while parents eat inside
