The couple raised six children there: three sons (George Sr., John Jr., and Thomas), one daughter (Rebecca) and one daughter-in-law (Mary Anna Smith). It wasn't until 1840 that George's grandson Charles Epps erected an early log cabin on what would become hillsboro village site - which still stands today – after emigrating fromGeorgia with his family some time earlier that year.
