Hamilton, Ohio is known for its manufacturing and firearms businesses. The city was founded in 1795 by George Washington and became a center for manufacturing munitions during the American Revolution. It also played an important role in the development of the shotgun and rifle industries. During World War II, Hamilton formed a munitions production center that helped produce weapons for the Allied Forces. In 1850-1851, Gentry started producing steam-powered lathes used inlock production; this company later becameknown as American Latch Corporation (ALD). Hamilton is a small town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Cincinnati–Bridgeport, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit what is now Hamilton was an American Indian named George Rogers Clark in 1775. He and his party were travelling south from Kentucky when they came across the then-unbroken chain of mountains that formed the boundaries of what would become Hamilton Township. During the early 1800s, Hamilton became a stop on the Underground Railroad as fugitive slaves sought refuge from slavery in Ohio and other states. In 1829, Hamilton hosted its first national convention for national Democrats under the leadership of Andrew Jackson. That same year saw construction begin on what would become today's courthouse Square. In 1837, Hamilton awarded land to John Dyer for a new market square which still stands today as one of its most important landmarks. A total of 127 lots were sold within three years of Dyer's donation and development began on what would become today's downtown area including several blocks of business buildings on Main Street between Third and Fourth streets (now known as Exchange Place). The town also built a public schoolhouse and started making plans for an agricultural society to provide food for their citizens during times of famine or drought; however these efforts never came to fruition due to lack financial resources at that time. The Panic Of 1837 struck America with such force that businesses closed up shop all over America including in Cincinnati where assets worth $1 million had been taken by creditors just two months earlier! With no money available to support any type of infrastructure projects or even pay wages to employees there was little hope left for anything resembling development in this rapidly shrinking community overnight! However despite this setback progress continued apace with several brick buildings being erected throughout downtown area beginning around 1840 complete with sidewalks and fixtures characteristic today including mercantile stores (today known as The Gilded Age Store District), churches (First Presbyterian Meeting House & First Baptist Church) along with homes starting becoming more common starting around 1850 Hamilton soon emerged as one of Ohio’s leading commercial centers thanks largely to advances made by its own entrepreneurs who had seized upon opportunities brought about by technological advancements like railroad travel times which had shortened considerably since those days! These include: Captain Cornelius Vanderbilt who built one of America’s first internal combustion gasoline engines; Cyrus McCormick who invented “milk packing” containers which allowed milk products such as cheese and butterfat not only be stored but also transported long distances without spoilage; Hiram Sacher who developed Sacher Glass Company which produced high quality windows using recycled glass product sourced from demolished homes throughout town; & Lorenzo Dowling whose enterprises included founding – together with his brother Seymour – both banks located inside present day Municipal Building complex housing Bankers Trust Company among others! This entrepreneurial spirit continued unabated into post-war years when many companies moved away or went out OF BUSINESS due primarily to changing economic conditions following World War II including plant closings at Muni-carrier yards near downtown followed by nationwide economic recession caused by huge strike waves among steelworkers! Some local industries that survived during this time include: printing plants owned by Armour Printing Co.; farm implement dealers operated by Higgins Bros.; coal mines operated by Wagon Wheel Coal Mines Inc.; plastics manufacturer EMI Corporation located next door to present day Humble Candy Factory while other local businesses such as drugstores relocated outside town during this period;& PNC Financial Corp.(later merged into PNC Bank) situated adjacent nowday Walgreens store on Court Avenue

Hamilton, Ohio was founded in 1788 by John Hamilton and his brothers. The town was named for Alexander Hamilton, the first U.S. senator from New York. The Hamiltons were a prominent family in the early days of Hamilton County. John Halleck, an immigrant from Scotland, became one of the first white men to own land in what is now Hamilton County when he bought two hundred acres near present-day Union Station in 1793. The hamlet of Westhampton developed around this time as did other hamlets within the original township boundaries. These villages gradually amalgamated into larger townships until 1801 when all but Westhampton left to form what is today Warren County. In that year, John D’Angelo organized a group of mechanics and farmers who purchased 2,000 acres east of present-day Dayton to create the village of Dayton – which became the largest community in Cincinnati metropolitan area after Cincinnati itself grew large during the 19th century Boomtown period. In 1807, General Sherman burned Lawrenceburg (now Lebanon) to prevent its incorporation into Cincinnati as part of his drive against slavery; however, Lawrenceburg reincorporated soon afterward under its new name: Hendersonville (a corruption of "Hamilton"). This episode has been called "the turning point" in Hendersonville's history and helped to spur development within that community despite opposition from some residents who saw it as a threat to their agricultural interests; Hendersonville remains one of Greater Cincinnati's most economically vibrant communities today. John D’Angelo also played a major role in founding Green Township on what is now eastern edge of downtown Dayton on land known then as Covington Hill because there was no real geographic center for this small farming community; Green Township eventually became part of Warren County too and would continue developing into today's Downtown Dayton area..
