Greenville, Ohio is home to both the Buckeye Firearms Association and the National Rifle Association. The Buckeye Firearms Association was founded in 1949 and has been a municipally-owned firearms store since 1953. The National Rifle Association was organized in 1871 and has been located in Greenville since 1906. The history of guns in Greenville goes back to before there were cities in Ohio. Prior to European settlement, Native Americans used bows and arrows to hunt small game around the area. As more people moved into the area, hunting became an outdoor activity that required skillful use of weapons such as spears and clubs. Eventually, settlers began moving into what is now Greenville from Pennsylvania and other states. One of the first Europeans to settle in what is now Greenville was John Glover who arrived on horseback in 1795. In 1812, he married Rachel Hill who came from Cumberland County, Pennsylvania with her family. After setting up a farm near present day downtown Greenville, Glover started trading goods with local Indians for food and shelter while also buying land for himself and his family. Glover’s descendants still live in Greene County today and continue to own land within town limits as well as some outside of it including two ranches which are currently used by the sheriff’s department as a training ground for deputies! In 1850, George Stephenson purchased about 160 acres near present day downtown Greenville from Nicholas de Weese for $120 payable over five years What followed were several months of construction that involved erecting frames for four cannons that would be used during American Civil War seige against Richmond Virginia! Today you can see one of these cannons still standing at Monument Square off High Street! It's known locally as 'The Big O'!' During this time period there were also several other businesses established within downtownGreenville including a grocery store (1851), post office (1853), hotel (1855), blacksmith shop (1857) & dance hall (1860). These businesses served the needs of residents until they closed or changed hands multiple times over the ensuing decades! After America entered World War I, many soldiers returned home without their rifles or shotguns so war clouds began gathering; this led to calls for new legislation governing firearm ownership across all levels of society. On November 3rd 1918 Congress passed House Resolution 947 which stated “No person shall be infringed upon or deprived thereof by any State government or private individual because he may possess arms lawfully kept by such individuals… [This] bill authorizes States notto enforce any provisions of federal law related to gun control” This act paved way for state handgun laws being passed throughout America starting with Tennessee on January 1st 1919! However, before he could move there, he was killed while fleeing from a duel with John Cuyahoga County Judge James Knox Polk on October 15th1832 at Laurel Hill plantation outside of town. As a result of Webster's death, Greenville became an unincorporated community until it incorporated as a city on February 14th1835 under Mayor George Wittenbergs leadership when Dayton refused to allow incorporation because it would have given away too much land for development within their city limits

However, over timevillagers found ways to make things work; for example, they built a water tower to provide drinking water to residents and raised chickens to help generate income). In 1872, Greenville merged with neighbouring Medina Township and began experiencing rapid growth which led to development around its downtown core - an experiment also carried out by other small towns throughout northeast Ohio during this period. Today's street namesakes - Main Street (now part of I-71), State Route 33 (now US 62), Elm Street (originally called "Fayette Square"), Chancellor Avenue (formerly SR 511) - reflect the town's rapid growth during those days. In 1924 rivalry between Athens OH&C Railroad Company Ltd., founded by J P Morgan near Cincinnati OH&C Railway Company Ltd., heated up into what became known as The Great Firestorm Of Cleveland OH which destroyed many homes along Main/State Streets in central Greenville as well as most significant businesses located thereabouts although some damage occurred outside city limits total damage assessed at $191K ($ when adjusted for inflation) – more than any other municipality affected during the firestorm

Greenville was founded by David Green in 1786. The town grew quickly, and by 1825 it had a population of over 1,500. In 1827, Greenville became the county seat of Lawrence County. The town continued to grow, and by 1830 it had a population of almost 3,000. By 1840, Greenville had become an important city with a population of more than 10,000. In 1851, the town was renamed Columbus after Christopher Columbus. The city continued to grow until its incorporation as a city in 1903.
