In 1870, when Canfield Township merged into Summit County, Green became part of that county as well. By 1880, its population had grown to 476 people living on 107 acres (39 ha). The Community School District No. 2 was organized here in 1896 with 15 members; it grew rapidly until reaching its current size with over 200 students in 2006! Green experienced rapid growth after World War II as many veterans returned home from service and began farming families’ original land around Lake Erie – including much present day Brownstown and nearby Streetsboro – creating new neighborhoods along Lakeshore Drive stretching from northeast Cleveland all the way south to Mentor., eastward to Euclid Heights., westward towards Akron.�The number one reason cited for purchasing homes near or inside today’s districts was opportunities for easy access to public transportation.�Many routes served our communities: four blocks away were two stations on Tremont Tramway; 10 minutes away were three stops on Line 9; 20 minutes away were two stops on Cuyahoga Valley Railroad.�Today we have more than just schools and churches � we also have shopping centers,, restaurants,, bars‑all within walking distance!� We are proud that community involvement continues today through programs such as Parks & Recreationprograms like Bike Lanesand Neighbors United Against Crime
