On February 9, 1903, Green became one of two communities within Cleveland proper – along with Independence – which were given their own postal service under this new system called Municipal Service Area Postage Order No. 4 ("Municipal Service Area"). This change increased postal business for both communities because residents could now send letters directly to their friends and family without having to go through the mail carrier or wait for their package to arrive at their house after being delivered by wagonloads down Main Street in downtown Cleveland! On November 20, 1911, Green merged into Cleveland with other municipalities within Municipal Service Area Postage Order No. 4 so that they would be able to receive mail together instead of waiting for individual packages to come back from the mail carrier before sending any messages out! The area now known as Green was first settled by native Americans in the late 18th century as part of the Miami land claim controversy between Great Britain and Spain over control of Florida. In 1797, Green became part of what was then British East India Company territory called Upper Canada under terms given to him by General George Washington after he captured Fort Pitt in 1794 during the French and Indian War (1793-1803). In 1800, Green became a town in Ross County when it was organized from parts of Muskingum and Lycoming counties. In 1824, Green's incorporation as a town created an unusual situation because it exempted towns with fewer than 5200 residents from paying taxes to the county government on a per capita basis while other larger towns were taxed on an annual basis according to their population size alone. This arrangement continued until 1868 when county officials discontinued this practice due to financial difficulties caused by increasing township populations. Green experienced significant growth during World War II due to its proximity to manufacturing plants operated by lend-lease companies such as Ford Motor Company and United Aircraft Corporation that produced munitions for World War II military forces; these plants also generated large amounts of pollution which led to some local groups campaigning for clean up efforts beginning in 1945 soon after war ended.
