Green, Ohio is a small town in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. The population was 9,813 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Clermont County. The area that would become Green was first settled by Native Americans in the late 18th century. In 1797, George Rogers Clark and his party explored what would become Ohio and discovered a large body of water calledthe Great Miami River. This discovery led to annexation of present-day Kentucky by Ohio in 1800 and made Green an important center for trade with Kentucky and other states east of the Allegheny Mountains. In 1827, when Daniel Boone discovered a route to Cincinnati through central Appalachia, he recommended that Clemont County be formed from parts of Fayette, Butler, Lawrence and Perry counties. The commissioners who voted on this proposal were John Mahon (Fayette), James Kapp (Butler), Lorenzo Dow (Lawrence) and Solomon Northup (Perry). Greene was not included in this group because it did not include any settlements near its proposed site for courthouse building. In 1840, President James Kapp appointed George Atherton as commissioner to purchase land along the Scioto River for a new courthouse complex which would include three buildings: one for court operations and two classrooms plus an engine house used by farmers to grind corn into flour; these structures still stand today on State Route 149 just north of downtown Green. During World War I, Cleveland – then known as Independence – became one of four American cities participating in Woodbridge Wilson’s Continental Expeditionary Force which invaded France via Belgium in 1918 as part of Allied forces under General Pershing. On July 5th troops from Cleveland’s 3rd Infantry Regiment landed at Brest-Litovsk on Lake Balaton after crossing over from Hungary pursuant to orders received from General Pershing himself! For their actions during World War I Cleveland residents were presented with a plaque erected at Euclid Avenue & Superior Street commemorating this event placed there by Mayor Abramoff concurrent with kick-off ceremonies for restoration work begun on September 25th Volunteer Infantry Museum located adjacent thereto
