Green, Ohio is a town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. As of the 2000 census, Green had a population of 10,878. The first guns in Green were set up by members of the local militia during the American Revolution.oothed pistols were made from wickerwork and other materials and were used for hunting small game such as rabbits and squirrels. In 1837, Colonel Ebenezer Cooke established a blacksmith shop in Green which became one of the largest in America. He worked on creating firearms including pistols and rifles for use by The Ohio National Guard as well as private individuals throughout central and eastern Ohio. During World War II, Green was home to two production plants for munitions making; one at Oak Hills Arsenal near Cleveland Heights and another at Smith & Wesson Industries Incorporated on Merrimack Avenue in Mentor. More than 1 million rounds were produced there between 1942-1945 alone! In 1951-1952 an armaments plant was built adjacent to the old Blacksmith Shop across Merrimack Avenue from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) – this plant became known as “The Factory” because it produce tanks and artillery pieces during Cold War days! Green, Ohio is a town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 13,895 at the 2010 census. It is the home of the Green Music Hall and Museum and Phillips Exeter Academy. The first Europeans to visit what is now Green were French traders in 1701. The area that is now Green was part of the Ottawa River Indian Reserve until 1813 when it became part of the United States. In 1814, land sales began to develop what would become Green with lots being sold at $3 per acre (1/4 mile²). A plat of this land was filed on July 8, 1816 by George Stephenson along with James Watt and others as part of a plan for connecting Cincinnati with Cleveland via a new railway line. In 1830, John Crain purchased 640 acres (2 km²) west of present-day Green from Chief Muscogee War Chief Tellafora mac Canaige for $5 per acre ($100 per km²). From Crain's purchase until 1840, there were few changes in the demographics or economic conditions of the town as large farms went out of business during this time period; most people lived on small parcels common to their region. In 1840, part of what would become Dayton Township was detached from Hamilton County and formed into its own government called "Hamilton Township Ville". This event also marked an beginning of a long process by which Dayton Township has gradually grown larger while remaining within Hamilton County boundaries; today it covers 10 square miles (25 km²). This change in neighborhood dynamics had two main effects: first, it created more opportunity for sawmills and other agricultural businesses to be located closer to transportation hubs so that goods could be shipped quickly and easily; second, rapid growth led to increased congestion on already limited roadways which made commuting difficult and risky for many residents. In 1850s much progress had been made in making transportation connectedness possible between Cincinnati—the eastern terminus then—and Cleveland through Toledo but greenfield railroad construction barely started due mainly to lack of funding Congress granted after President Andrew Johnson declared war on Mexico in April 1865 because he believed military victory might spur industrial development across America’s southern border northward instead thereof - investment failure leading American industry largely concentrates around New York City during these years
The city of Green, Ohio was founded in 1796 by James Green. The town was named for the trees that grew near the original home of its founder. The first settler in Green was John Hance, who built a cabin on the east side of the Scioto River. In 1810, George Stephenson built his first locomotive here and located what is now known as Green’s Depot on High Street. In 1812, the city purchased land from the Jennings family and developed it into a self-sufficient community with a school and post office. By 1830, Green had two stores and 20 residents. During this time, much progress was made in terms of infrastructure development including water systems and roads. In 1840, Green became part of the newly formed county of Lucasville which included all of Trumbull County as well as most of Ashland County. In 1848, when Ohio became an independent state, Green became its second city with over 100 citizens living in what is now downtown. After becoming an Independent City again in 1850 (under new name Cleveland), it continued to serve as its own municipal government until 1861 when it merged with neighboring Cleveland into one municipality under new name Cleveland Heights/Lakewood/Sandusky
