Green, Ohio is a town in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the Miami and Erie Canal. The population was 13,895 at the 2000 census. As of 2010, Green had a population of 17,512. The first European settler in what is now Green was David Rhoton who purchased land from the Wyandot Indians in 1792. In 1811, John Armstrong founded Armstrong Steel Works in what is now Green and became its president and founder after selling his stock to other investors. In 1935-36 Sidney Sargent opened a grocery store on Main Street opposite First Baptist Church (); this store would eventually be demolished along with most buildings associated with it including Sargent's Garage (),original Post Office building (),an elementary schoolhouse (),a church tower (),a blacksmith shop (),an old tractor shed ()); only two storefront windows still remain today: one facing North towards SpringHill Village while another facing South towards Eastlake Drive (). Today these remnants constitute just 0.5%of total building remnant inventory remaining within Green Township dating back more than 175 years!
