In1904RichlandCountytookover responsibilityfor supplying municipal services fromCliftonParkwhICHE ALSO WAS TRANSFERRED TO RICHLAND COUNTY ON OCTOBER 15TH OF THAT YEAR.(Clifton Park functions as an unincorporated community adjacent to Girardeau.) Todayvirtuallyall activities conducted within Girardeau take place within or adjacent to Clifton Park which also serves as their official town center although there are no plans currently underway to annex or expand into villages outside of Clifton Park specifically because they believe this would create more problems than benefits for both communities given their unique character traits etc.). So much has changed over these years that it’s hard not to see how tiny VillageOfGirardeauturnedintoamultiplexitywhose distinguishingfeatureisitsinternationalrelationship whichexistedbefore1970whenOhio joinedtheEuropean Union!

The Girards were the first European settlers in what is now Huntington County. The town had a population of about 120 people when it was established. In 1814, the United States Congress created Huntington County as part of the West Virginia Territory. The county seat was moved to Dayton in 1828, and Girard became the county courthouse buildings were constructed there in 1830-1831. On November 3, 1838, Girard voted to become an independent republic under the name of Republic of Ohio. It ceased to exist as an independent republic on January 1, 1840 when President James K. Polk dissolved the federal government and placed all US counties into divided states with their own legislatures under state governments. With its independence terminated, Girard became a natural focus for annexation by other nearby towns such as Dayton and Xenia which made it one of the most incorporation cities during this time period. In 1888-1901, Girard experienced significant growth due to new industry founded by George Wickersham Sr., who also served as mayor from 1901-1902 and 1904-1907; Wickershams development included building a railway station at Girard and construction of several mills which produced cotton yarn, flour and paper products until 1907 when they closed down due to competition from more efficient machines. The city center features many old mill buildings that have been renovated or converted into apartment houses; these include Wright’s Mill (now known as FirstMerit Bank), built in 1903; Pritchett’s Mill (now known as Prichter’s Pizza), built in 1907; Biddle & Warley’s Sawmills (now known as Quality Hardware Store), built in 1908; Masonic Temple (now home to Cheyney University).
