Girard, Ohio is a small town located in the lowerwestern portion of the United States. The population was 5,717 at the 2010 census. Girard has a history that goes back to 1812 when it was part of the Northwest Territory. It was named for Pierre-Jean de Girard, who served as captain of volunteers in the American Revolution and then served as justice of the peace in Green Township. In 1815, Girard became part of what is now Hamilton County and its first postmaster, Anthony Bousquet, donated land for a courthouse and jail. The first sheriff in Girard was Samuel Goudreau. The town grew rapidly after railroad construction began through central Ohio in the late 19th century. By 1900, Girard had a general store, four churches (twoMethodist and two Catholic), three schools (grades one through five), two newsboys agencies, two harness shops/factories and six residences. During World War I, Girard produced munitions for Ulysses S. Grant's army on Long Island Sound. After hostilities ended in 1918, local businesses resumed their normal operations while development continued around town with new buildings built such as an ice cream parlor and bankrolled by contributions from residents throughout the 1920s until well into the 1960s when much of what remains today were constructed during that time period including civic center/library complex which replaced an earlier structure dating back to 1865 The current incarnation of Girardi began to take shape during this time with incorporation on November 3rd 1926 by Drury Lumber Co., Incorporated as The Village Trust Company Of America (). With close to 900 citizens incorporated therein within just 10 years following incorporation there was already ample opportunity for growth; however legal challenges arose over water rights issues (often cited as being among reasons why little progress towards developing downtown) but ultimately these setbacks did not prevent significantication within minutes of each other or lead to any long-term decline within core village functions or retail base). On July 1st 1978 all village functions were transferred from Trust company headquarters - directly onto Main Street - providing finally definitive community street address & synergy between core village services & retailFrontier Plaza developments resulting in ultimate stability & vibrancy since day one! Downtown business district redevelopment accelerated during early 1980s creating 'Downtown Garage' commercial district adjacent thereto complete with 100ft high concrete A-frame garage facade flanked by6 stories tall Jim Thorpe Tower annexe

The town was settled by Europeans in the late 18th century and until recently, it was one of the most isolated communities in the state. Girard’s location on the Scioto River made it an ideal place to grow crops and manufactures. However, with increased competition from neighboring towns, Girard began to decline in importance over time. Today, Girard is primarily a small community that observes its rural roots. The first European settlers to come to Girard were Frenchmen who landed at what is now known as Pierrepont Street in 1790. They built a log cabin and started farming their land. By 1800, however, they had moved out of Girard and developed other settlements around the Scioto River Valley. Over time, many other Europeans arrived in search of new opportunities in Ohio. Scots-Irish immigrants were among those who came to Girard during this time period. In 1811, General John Porter founded Porter’s Ferry on the Scioto River as a way for goods transported between Cincinnati and points northward bypassing Cleveland (now Cleveland). This ferry became an important link in transportation throughout central Ohio during this era. Porter also constructed warehouses near present-day Girard for storing goods arriving from abroad; these warehouses remain significant today as local landmarks (e.g., The Warehouse Museum). In 1817-1818, Porter sponsored a survey that mapped out what would become Girard Township; this survey helped shape future development within the township boundaries which continue to be closely followed today! In 1825, Hiram Sneath purchased some land along Buffalo Creek outside of present day Girard for $1 per acre! This purchase set off an agricultural revolution within eastern Ohio because Sneath became one of the first farmers to adopt irrigation techniques based on his knowledge learned while working on his brother’s farm near Portsmouth, New Hampshire! Soon after purchasing his property along Buffalo Creek, Sneath began planting corn and wheat which he could sell back into circulation at high prices thanks to improved transportation methods then available! These early pioneers are credited with helping guide later generations of agriculturists when making decisions about where to plant their crops – something that still holds true today!
