Garfield Heights, Ohio is a town in Medina County, Ohio, United States. It was founded in 1825 by General David Garvin and named for him. The population was 12,000 at the 2010 census. The downtown area is home to the Garfield Heights Museum of Art and History and the Garfield Heights Arts District. Garfield Heights, Ohio is a town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 12,857 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. The first settlement in Garfield Heights was on May 6, 1814 when three men named John Hatcher, James Caldwell and Andrew Garland set up a cabin near what is now the intersection of I-580 and State Route 7. They were followed by others within a few weeks and by early June had erected several log homes. One resident remembered that "the first Sabbath day in America we met together to celebrate God's birthday." In 1815 the town site was chosen from among five proposed sites for its new capital; it laid out its present plat on July 2nd of that year. On November 16th, 1825 Hagerstown Township formed from parts of Cuyahoga and Medina Counties with Garfield Heights as the township's seat (it would later be moved to Mentor). On December 3rd Cartwright offered land to purchase from David Dixon for $1 per acre (later reduced to $0.50 per acre due to objections from other local landowners). The townships were organized into wards on February 14th, 1828 using closed roll call voting which continued until March 4th when elections were held open only to residents of wards 1-3 because Cartwright desired more autonomy for his township. Garfield Heights voted against annexing Hagerstown Township on April 10th but did agree to amalgamate with it on July 1st following ratification of an ordinance creating both townships as one entity: The merger resulted in the creation of one of America's smallest municipalities – at just over 12 square miles – but it also gave rise to one of its most beloved properties: Garfield Heights Park! The park has been continuously managed byGarfield Heights Recreation Department since 1923 and features a variety of recreational opportunities such as tennis courts, disc golf courses, a pool/spa and playgrounds for children as well as baseball diamonds and football fields for adults. In 1897 Jens Jensen founded Jensen Manufacturing Company which produced radios and televisions during the golden age of radio proliferation; he remains an important figure in Garfield Hills history today. In 1957 Garfields last school closed down after allegations that teachers had been bribed with free ice cream - this led ultimately to reform efforts throughout Cuyahoga County including passage of the Cleveland School Reform Act which established district-level schools within each municipal unit instead thereof.; attendance rates improved thereafter while corruption allegations persisted until they ended abruptly in 1995 without any charges being brought against any educators or school board members

By 1912, numerous other inventors had also contributed to optical technology, such as Georges Bénard who invented X-ray photography in 1895 and Percy Fitzroy who developed white light photography in 1903.
