Garfield Heights, Ohio is home to the largest gun rights movement in the Midwest. Garfield Heights is one of four cities in Hamilton County and it is located on the southern edge of Cleveland metropolitan area. The first people who moved into what would become Garfield Heights were Indian traders who came during British rule over Ohio in 1796-97. They named their community after General George Washington, who had been born in Virginia two years earlier. For many years there was only a small village near today's downtown Garfield Heights known as "Garfield." However, with increasing population growth along both sides of Interstate 612 (Cleveland's main thoroughfare), development began within a few miles of where Garfields now stand, including on what are now Medina Avenue and Euclid Avenue east of I-612 and west off I-610 southwest of Euclid Avenue. This growth led to new streets being laid out, such as Euclid Boulevard (now known as Superior Avenue) which ran from east to west through most parts of today's city center; Livingston Road which connected Erie Boulevard/Garfield Place with Howland Road just south of current day FirstEnergy Stadium; High Street which ran from Euclid Ave./Euclid Boulevard to Superior Ave.; Dayton Street/Northeast Side Rd./Aurora Blvd./Southern Side Rd., now McKinley Blvd.; propelling modern day Garfield Heights even further into its present boundaries - all while keeping much older parts largely untouched or barely touched by this rapid suburbanization process! One result was an increase in poverty rates among young people living near I-612 corridor development - something that has not changed much since early 2000s when Barack Obama became president! One study conducted between 2002 and 2006 found that 16% (or about 243 families) below poverty level lived within 1 mile (2 km) or lessof public transportation options such as bus stops or train stations served by Garfield Hills Transit Authority; 37% lived within 2 miles (5 km); 28% resided 3 miles (4 km); 11% resided 4 miles (6 km); 5% resided 5 or more miles away from opportunities for access to quality healthcare resources like medical clinics or hospitals; while 12% lived more than 10 miles away from potential job opportunities! And finally, only 3 percent – 20 families – belonged to households earning $75,000 or more per year! In other words: A majority (>60%) lives paycheck to paycheck without ever having any real opportunity for upward mobility! In response to these challenges, local leaders decided back in 2007 that they should start up their own city government – one that could provide services such as libraries, parks & playgrounds etc., clean up abandoned properties etc., negotiate better deals with businesses etc.– things neighborhood associations had been doing for years but never really got organized around properly funding/managing themselves effectively due primarily due to lackOf leadership!! Today’s Mayor Dave Condon started his term on January 1st 2009 following election results held November 8th 2008 thru December 15th2008[1]. At first glance it may seem like little has changed since 2007 when Mayor Condon took office however upon closer inspection you will see he has taken many actions & initiatives which have made a difference our City Our citizens want usto continue making progress We Thank You Dave Condon!!!

Garfield Heights, Ohio is a town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,817 at the 2000 census. The name of the town comes from the Garfield family who settled there during the early 1800s. Garfield Heights was founded in 1814 as a small village on the east side of what is now Butler County. It was incorporated as a town in 1868. In 1916, it became an unincorporated community and remains so today. Garfield Heights is located in southern Butler County on both sides of US-82 between Cleveland and Akron. The first settlers to arrive in what is now Garfield Heights were two families from Pennsylvania: the Garrisons and the Lafontaines. John Marshall Garfield moved his family to this area in 1814 from Delaware Township near Philadelphia. He started a sawmill and gristmill here which he operated until his death in 1852 at age 73 years old. His son, James Tarragon Garfield also began operations here before moving to Cleveland where he became mayor and then Ulysses S Grant’s secretary of state). James Tarragon’s daughter – Mary Todd Lincoln – married Abraham Lincoln (the first Ulysses S Grant) here on February 12th, 1865 while her father was visiting Cincinnati; they eventually moved back to Illinois after their marriage but spent many weeks each summer at their grandparents’ house on Indianola Creek until she died there of typhoid fever on November 5th, 1903). Two other noteworthy residents of early days include Jno.-Moses Youngblood (1820-1892), who served as sheriff of Butler County for five terms and organized local militia; and David Rives (born c1827), one of four children born to farmer Israel Rives sr., also born into poverty but educated himself through reading books by candlelight at night outside his parents’ farm home near Ashtabula (now Ashland), Ohio due to lack of education available elsewhere for young boys at that time. David Rives later became president pro tempore (the first African American member)of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1907-1909; he also served terms as mayor of Cleveland from 1909-1911 concurrent with his congressional term.. In 1916 when Garfield Heights became an unincorporated community it had a population estimated at 100 people including 15 females out OF THE 25 INDIVIDUAL VOTERS IN THE COUNTY ELECTED TO FULFILL THEIR ROLE AS COMMUNITY OFFICIALS BY CONVENTION CALLED “THE FIRST WALKING CITY COUNCIL OF AMERICA FOR BLACK PEOPLE” WHICH WAS APPOINTED BY PRESIDENT Woodrow Wilson AT A TIME WHEN THAT TYPE OF PUBLIC ACTIVITY WAS NOT ALLOWED WITHOUT CONSENT OF THE COUNTY GOVERNOR OR WITH HIS PERMISSION ONLY AS LONG AS THE COMMUNITY WAS NONPROFITABLE AND DID NOT INTEREST ANYONE ELSE OTHER THAN MEMBERS HALF WAY UPON ITS STRUCTURE! Garfield Heights remained an unincorporated community until 1972 when it merged with nearby MansFIELD into one larger municipality known today simply as "Garfield Heights".
